I know its over used but I actually laughed out loud when I read that.

I'm sure I'll get hate-mail for the bling and Banks air horn, but oh well (the chrome was there when I got the truck and the air horn and red coolant lines I liked so I got it...we're all weird, I'm weird like that, so...) Full disclosure, I did not successfully diagnose the truck myself...

Thanks MGreer. I have been away for a little bit. I'll go into more detail later, but essentially I had crossed some injector wires. The truck runs fine now but I haven't driven more than few miles due to my schedule. I haven't even gotten a chance to do a hot retorque on the head yet. Hope...

Yeah, QA keeps giving me the stink eye.

I gotta watch out. Quality Assurance just showed up.

Loosened the exhaust manifold. Cylinder #2 is spewing and smoking out of the exhaust.

I'll pull the exhaust manifold out a quarter inch, run the truck, and look for a smoking/sputtering cylinder. If I don't find any anomalies I'll run the fuel rail cap test again. This one is definitely a head scratcher.

I tried connecting with it (Solus) again today...didn't work. Hooked up my Bosch code reader...no problem. Pulled ECM pin connectors, cleaned them with spray cleaner, checked for bent, depressed broken pins...no problems found. Plugged them all back in and the Solus still wouldn't connect...I...

I think you and Killer223 may be right about the injector but I need to figure out (1) if it's for sure a bad injector and (2) if it's a bad injector, which one is bad. I'm assuming when I sent the fuel rail to full pressure the stuck open injector dumped even more fuel and made the knock...

I also hooked the Solus up to my '07.5. No issues. Connected right up.

So I disconnected the wire connector to the CP3 pump while the truck was idling. The truck immediately lowered RPM and started knocking badly. Smoked even more. Does that point toward anything?

Was I supposed to disconnect the fuel rail electrical connector when I capped off each cylinder? Because I didn't do that.

3 times, twice while cold and once after I let it idle for 20 minutes and got it to operating temperature. All valves checked out perfect.

Checked the injector wiring. They're all good.

Once I can stand looking at the truck I'll go back under the hood and look at wires, etc.

So I was unsuccessful in figuring it out. I capped each cylinder. No difference in smoke or idle on 1, 2, 3 and 6. I couldn't get the truck to start and idle on 4 and 5. I was successful in breaking my plastic dipstick T-handle as I leaned into the engine bay to cap each cylinder. I was also...

I will admit I could've kept the pump covered more, but I did try to keep it under a cover while rebuilding the engine.
