    Eraser wheel

As an update, I tried the eraser wheel today. It didn’t work. I instead scraped as much as I could an then used a bronze bristle wheel on a bench grinder. It worked pretty well. It didn’t remove all of the silicone, enough to make a smooth surface though. I used the Mopar sealant.

    Flashing check engine light

Well, started my truck in town earlier and, surprise, no flashing CEL! I left the key on for awhile and it stayed on steady until I started it. When I got home, I put the scanner on it and it showed 10 monitors complete. No clue what cleared it, I haven’t really driven it any differently than...

    Eraser wheel

Has anyone used an eraser wheel to remove the silicone gasket sealer from a transmission pan?

    Flashing check engine light

Fortunately no. The reason I say fortunately is that I don’t know how I would get it cleared up according to the sheet that was posted.

    Flashing check engine light

Actually I’m about 25 miles west of Cripple Creek. I get below 7,000’ almost 3 times a week for a total daily time of maybe 35 minutes, however, half of that is up a pretty steep grade. If the parameters are cumulative, it would take about 30 weeks to clear. Sure seems like a weird way of...

    Flashing check engine light

If that’s the case, this truck my never see conditions like that. It might never clear up.

    Flashing check engine light

I don’t remember if I disconnected both batteries or not, I may have, I did it in the parking lot of the parts store so I wouldn’t have to pay a core charge. So, it looks like I need to drive the truck at a steady speed for about an hour to complete the two missing monitors. Still would like...

    Flashing check engine light

Thank you for the responses. It’s now making me wonder if I should switch fuel suppliers to see if there’s any difference. I thought I was feeling a different throttle response and switched to a different station. I went back to the old station this last fillup. I’m at 9,400’ elevation and I’m...

    Flashing check engine light

I found the reference for the flashing light in the owners manual, I'm not sure if I need to go to the dealer for diagnosis though. I rescanned with my reader and here are pics of what it showed. The last one is just to show the legend. I also used my cheap load tester on the batteries and...

    Flashing check engine light

By manual, do you mean the owners manual or the Factory Service Manual?

    Flashing check engine light

I don’t remember the light flashing when I first got the truck in August. What are the monitors in reference to? I guess I’ll look in the owners manual for the explanation, I must have missed it before.

    Flashing check engine light

So, the MIL light coming on before starting is normal. Does the flashing light lead you to believe that there is a possible battery or voltage issue? Would it be linked to the lower ambient temperature and the activation of the grid heaters? I do know that my old 2000 would heat the grid heaters...

    Flashing check engine light

First off, is it normal for the MIL light to stay on after the POST until it’s started? My 2015 does the same thing. I never saw that before on my 2000.

    Flashing check engine light

I wonder if I should load test them. I have a friend that’s had 2 brand new Interstate batteries fail in 7 months. The batteries I have are Interstates.

    Flashing check engine light

I haven’t seen a battery saver mode message in the EVIC. There are no stored messages. I just now scanned for codes with the reader I have and there are none stored or pending. The temperature I’ve noticed this before was about +20° F. When I just went to scan for codes it was 36°F. It showed...

    Flashing check engine light

2016 Ram 2500. I have noticed, especially when it's very cold out that the check engine light, that comes on and stays on at other times until starting, is now flashing while waiting for the grid heaters to warm up. In both cases, the light goes out after starting. Any insight as to why this is...
