    Air filters

Which is probably fine because: 1) Your truck is a 2016 and doesn't have observable faults when using a "too/more restrictive" filter. 2) The assumptions that... a) The fram is just as free flowing as anything else b) The fram is just as good at catching particles as anything else c)...

    Air filters

VE is only >100% if all components allow it to be so. Just because you have a turbo doesn't mean you get to run a 2" exhaust, 1" intercooler piping and an air filter from a lawn mower. The turbo harvests energy from two sources. One, pressure relieved when the exhaust valve opens. This is...

    Air filters

Particle removal, particle loading capacity, and a sufficiently robust construction to not get sucked down the intake tube aside...the answer relative to this discussion is pressure drop. Any filter that has lower pressure drop (relative to mass flow rate) means the turbo will be driven less...

    Air filters

The glue strips don't cause the problem just like lack of glue strips doesn't make for a superior filter. The glue strips were simply a handy way to differentiate the two MOPAR filters that came through the Mopar supply chain, one of which has inferior airflow and thus does not work well for...

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Are bypass oil filters really worth having?

I think the ROI math for the additional protection only works out if: 1) You drive lots of miles, and the extended interval keeps the truck earning money rather than lost productivity during downtime. 2) You drive lots of miles and are already paying a lot of money for dealership oil changes...

"Box of wine" oil change review

$70 a case (3 gal) of T6 at home depot with a $40 rebate is a pretty slick deal.

What is your coolant of choice?

Pop lower hose in passenger wheel well. Pop upper hose at radiator. Pop heater hose at riser pipe and top of valve cover. Multiple flushes in multiple directions with garden hose and then blow down with compressed air, then repeat. Optional, fill with citric acid cleaner and drive, then...

    Service before Major trip

I'm with you, or perhaps I'm more obsessive. I carry stuff that is cheap and easy that would be a silly way to ruin a trip. Bonus if it's light weight, or a used part I took off, or something I'll need in the future anyway. Especially if it's parts I just took off and don't trust the new ones...

What is your coolant of choice?

I'm using Peak Final Charge Pro. It's good stuff. Napa regularly puts concentrate on sale, I think it was $17 a gallon. Can also find it at OReilly's, Advance, and Walmart. Availability is an important metric for me. I did a citric acid flush and precautionary water pump replacement at the...

"Box of wine" oil change review

I used the delo 3 gallon box for the first time this weekend. Inside the big box is two, smaller 1.5 gallon boxes. Each has a 1.5 gallon bag. No valve like the Rotella, but a cap that slides into a slot in the cardboard, thus becoming a 1.5 gallon pourable jug. I was able to pour my waste...

    Service before Major trip

Alternator brushes? Rear axle bearing adjustment? Man, we're picking some random stuff to worry about. Every parts store everywhere has an alternator and brake calipers for these trucks. DEF system - get a spare injector from Genos for $99 and keep it in the truck. Make sure the bolts are...

    Coolant Low

I've had more than one car where the low coolant sensor was located on one side of the radiator, a few inches down from the top. If the system sucked the bottle dry and began to have air in the radiator, you'd get the light. It's not impossible, just different than how the modern systems with...

    Gauges Where?

Piece of 2" PVC pipe profiled to fit the lower corner of the bezel. Held in place with 3M double sided tape. Fits a gauge perfectly. Black rattle can. Would be easy to do a second on the other side if needed. It keeps the dash clean. Well, until I put the TPMS monitor up there for the...

    We need a section 4.75

It makes sense if you have lots of technical forum traffic that is engine specific and entirely not relevant to other variants. Subdivide and conquer. On smaller forums it just leads to reduced sharing/traffic in any one genre. 2010-2024 engines have more in common than they do different...

    We need a section 4.75

Then this site chooses to cross pollinate engine designation with chassis/platform generations. Engine changes don't constitute a subgeneration/facelift. LB7, LLY, and LBZ are all different engines but all came in a GMT-800. Nobody on the interwebs is insisting on making up terms like...

    We need a section 4.75

Where does one draw the line? You've counted in halves/quarters, so you're motivated to find four breaks to fill the bracket. Radius arm update 2013/2014 - subgen? Apple car play 2018 - subgen? Return to single radiators 2015 - subgen? Return to CP3 2021 - subgen? The 2013 2500 is an odd...
