lets put it this way, maybe my butt is totally off base and now Mopar has become a European brand which will render it undriveable due to its overcomplication... I hope not.
The beauty of these trucks was their crudeness and lack of sophistication.

I'm one of those people who are willing to experiment and if something doesn't work I properly I will say so,
but no one has really came up with anything but theory as to why it is that critical to just use one particular air filter.
I'll leave it at that.

it soesn't matter to me, my truck is happy using Frams I buy at Walmart for 19 bucks.

Which is probably fine because:
1) Your truck is a 2016 and doesn't have observable faults when using a "too/more restrictive" filter.
2) The assumptions that...
a) The fram is just as free flowing as anything else
b) The fram is just as good at catching particles as anything else
c) Even if a + b are false, the fram is sufficient at each, enough that the 2016 doesn't seem to care...
...are totally worth the $11 saved in your value system, and that's okay. The TSB doesn't apply to your truck so why let it bother you?

The only tested data point that we have is that one mopar filter is more restrictive than the other one.
