2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Trans Temp and Fuel Pressuse Gauges

I chose the Westach black face gauges. I chose a dual egt/boost, a single temp (for transmission), and a 0-16 PSI FP gauge. You can check out my before pics here: http://smallnet.homeip.net:3001/truck/truck_pre-upgrades/index.htm Notice in picture "DSCF0006.JPG" that in the very middle is the...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

Re: overflow value or gauge Cool. I'm sure I'm making this a lot bigger deal than it is right now. I just like to cover all possibilities.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

While reading through the fuel delivery section of the FSM I thought of this. I wonder if my overflow valve could be slightly stuck open. The overflow valve is not supposed to open until 14 PSI. If I'm never seeing 14 PSI, that means either the pump is never reaching 14 PSI worth of pressure,the...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

I'm not that gullible! :) That was a FREE test provided courtesy of the dealership! (wonderful work huh?) At least I had them "test" it for documentation purposes. I have a friend of mine checking with a cummins diesel mechanic about the numbers I'm getting. I've definitely got my gauge...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

I called the other Dodge dealership in the area and asked,"Do you all have the gauges needed to check lifter pump pressure on the Cummins?". The service rep. told me that they didn't and that it'd have to be done at a diesel shop. When I asked for clarification he said someplace like the Cummins...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

I called the cummins place and he said they can certainly perform the test, that it's an easy gauge test (as everyone on this board has said), but I'd need to take it back to the dealer if it needed replaced under warranty. He suggested giving the service dept. heck since they never performed...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

Go figure... The dealership didn't actually run any tests. According to my service rep. , the tech. took the truck out for a drive and it ran fine... case closed. He proceeded to tell me that most of their techs aren't certified in diesel and that they refer their diesel customers to a...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

Sounds like I may be hooked up post-filter then since you say the hookup is on the firewall side of the filter canister. I'm hooked up on the fore side of the canister rather than aft. The dealer said they found no problems when they tested it. On the way home yesterday I was once again...

here's where I hooked up the fuel pressure gauge:

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

Westach gauges bought through Genos. Taking readings at the schrader valve; connection shown in the picture at the URL listed earlier in this post using the 18" fuel pressure line supplied by Genos (LAHF-FL18). Fuel filter was last changed with a Fleetguard less than 500 miles ago. I...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

The truck's in the shop and we'll see what dealer has to say. While driving it to the shop yesterday I was able to get the following numbers: 7 PSI cold at idle. 10. 5-11 PSI warm at idle. 7-8 PSI cruising. 4-5 PSI WOT.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

How does the banjo bolt help out the LP so that it's not overworked? No power boxes installed so I'm good there.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Gauges are in... LP Failure?

The gauges are in. Pics can be seen here: http://smallnet.webhop.net/truck/index.htm I need antoher opinion on my fuel pressure readings. I bumped the starter and I get 9 PSI. When starting it the FP drops below 5-7 PSI (the FSM guide), although I didn't pull the fuel system relay to the PDC...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission citizens band radio install

Thanks for all of the information provided thus far. So this raises the question... If I want to install to a constant hot wire, will starting the engine cause enough of a power drop for the CB to lose the current channel if it defaults to a specific channel on power-on? I know the stock...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission citizens band radio install

I tried to do some searches on this, but since "cb" is less than 3 letters, I didn't come up with anything useful. My questions... How is everyone tapping into power for CBs? I was thinking of using the power accessory plug and tapping into it with wire tap-ins. Any thought or suggestions on...

VIN and Body Code plate decoding questions

Thanks, the VIN codes answer my question as to what plant. The manual only lists 3 plants. Any thoughts as to why I don't have a transmission code stamped the specified location?

VIN and Body Code plate decoding questions

Looking at my VIN, what is plant location "G"? The 2001 service manual does not list a "G". Also, I have looked at the service manual's instructions on decoding the body code plate and have found that I do not have a transmission code! Any reason why?

    Newbie questions

Hmmm... Plastic melting. I seem to remember the days of doing that just a few years back, but back then it was on the Jeep. Hopefully the truck won't become as much of an addiction. I'm still in the process of building up my trail rig so hopefully not. I've checked out what a few friends and...

    Newbie questions

Thanks everyone for your input. You quickly learn how valuable internet forums are, especially when it comes to something you don't know much about. I've learned a lot and continue to learn alot about my jeep through forums. Hopefully the same is true about this forum for my truck, but I have...
