    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Sudden Loss of Power

Done with the dealer SG5054 You make me feel lucky with my relatively minor problems. At least for this go round. The dealer corrected the problems but never did say "sorry for the inconvenience" or anything similar. It took three trips to get it right. A part of the story I did not include...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Sudden Loss of Power

Problem Solved In order to access the A/C compressor, the dealer removed a section of pipe going from the turbo to the intercooler. When they replaced it, the boot was butted up against the end of the metal tube and the clamp was only on the metal. Secondary problem, was that the clamp...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Sudden Loss of Power

Headed back to the dealer You are correct that all these problems surfaced after the A/C service. The truck has 70K miles and there are no warning lights and all the gauges (stock) read normal. I never have been happy with the trans, in fact I've paid to have it checked out twice...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Reverse light tie in.

Behind the Tail Light I spliced into the back up light wire behind the tail light assembly. I live in the rainy northwest and there was little or no evidence of moisture in that area. Removing the tail light assembly made the splice easy. Using a relay is a must. :)

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Sudden Loss of Power

:{ Long Story short: I picked up my 98. 5 after extensive A/C repair including pulling the dash. Experienced many non-function problems, took it back. Now, no power and I get an rushing air noise that at first I thought was the A/C in cab fan. Rolling down the window, I hear the same noise...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Speedo Calibration

Just put 285 16 tires on my 98. 5 Auto 4x4. Speedo is off about 7. 4% (hey I'm an engineer). Been to a transmission shop who tried to reprogram the computer to compensate but no luck. The computer gave three choices Goodyear or Mich. (both 245's) or other. But the other option did not allow input of...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) pulling to right

I had a pull problem while braking when my 98. 5 was new. The dealer rebuilt the front end per a TSB and its been fine since. This included a "skim" cut on the rotors. I've heard of others with pulling problems (while braking) and machining the rotors fixed the problem. Best of luck!

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 295's rubbing trailing arm ?

A 4x4 shop told me about a 2 inch front leveling lift would do the trick. I did not have the $$$ so I stuck with 285's. I saw a rig with the lift, and larger tires, sweet!! :D

    Toyo Open Country Tires

I just got LT285 75 16's on my 98. 5. Anybody figured out how to re-cal the speedo? Dealer says he can't do it. transmission shop tried via computer but no luck. By the way so far these tires are great. I had nothing but dissatisfaction with the Goodyears that came stock.

    Tire size and RPM

Its time for tires. I have a 98. 5 24V with 3. 54 gears and automatic. I two a 24' TT that weighs about 6,000 pounds. I have the typical problem of low RPM (~1600 RPM) at 60 mph (out of power curve) and therefore little or no capacity to climb hills when towing. I'm looking at going from the...
