    U-Joint Question

When I'm in 2WD and shift into reverse I get a loud clunking noise. When I am in 4WD (high) and shift into reverse there is no clunking noise at all. Anybody know if this means the bad u-joint(s) are in the front or the rear driveshaft? Thanks!

    Line-X Roof Rust Re-doox

There was some surface rust just beginning to show from sitting in the CA sun for 10 years. I sanded it off since it was an affront to all that is decent and right. Then I buried it. My A/C works fine, but even if it didn't, I wouldn't have bought a truck like this if I couldn't have handled...

You can smack it, and you can whack it, but I don't think you're gonna crack it.

    Transmission Removal, Preparations for

So far what I am getting out of this thread is there are 3 methods for gaining access to the rear main seal: 1. Jack the truck up high enough to remove the transmission. A low profile transmission jack will help here. Safety is maximized by using a transmission jack instead of a bolt on attachment to your...

    WIF Sensor Pricing

Thanks for all the help. I ended up filling the new filter with fuel and did not bother to prime the system. It started right up. There is a lot of stuff on this board about changing the filter. I can only add that I found it worth while crawling underneath the truck to gain visual access to the...

Thanks for the advice Caleb. I understand that by using your method I can replace both the rear main seal and the flex plate without having to remove the automatic transmission. Can I also replace the cam plug using this method?

Travis, do I need a special tool to install the frt seal in the auto trans? Also, when I changed the clutch in my old 1971 911T I dropped the engine and transmission as a unit and then unbolted them. Not sure what you mean by remove the t-case. That is, I really can't picture it in my head...

Hi, I am gathering some parts in advance of removing my transmission in order to get at the rear main seal. I have the Cummins RR seal kit, and I have ordered the Piers SFI certified flexplate. I am going to call Cummins and order the cam plug and seal. (Not really clear on the requirement to...

    Rear Main Seal Repair Cost?

Daniel, I looked at the procedure in my service manual and it does not look like a 3hr. job... I remember seeing somewhere that you can move the trans back about 5 inches and get enough clearance to change the seal? Is there also enough clearance to change the flex plate and cam plug without...
