I don't mean to sound like an idiot - but I don't have a clue how to do those ideas.

    Help with engine codes please

I have my first '05 diesel, 3. 73 automatic. My malfunction indicator light came on and I got codes P2607 Intake Air Heater Relay 2 Low and P0071 - Ambient Temp Sensor performance/rationality. Can anyone tell me if these are serious? I am 2000 miles from home, towing a 13k trailer...

First Mountain - Are these boost and EGT's Correct?

2005, no mods. I've read on hear where some are getting 32-34 boost. I never read those. Is this correct? bob

First Mountain - Are these boost and EGT's Correct?

Ok, I finally got my X-Monitor installed and drove a 13k trailer from Tucson to San Diego. My truck is an '05 stock, 3. 73, auto. I had to downshift a couple times to 2nd to keep speed up (5-6% grades). My EGT probe is post turbo and climbed above 1100 a couple of times and normally were...

    pyro temps

I just installed a pyrometer. I installed it post turbo because it is stock. While pulling a 13k trailer with my 05 3500 DRW, auto, 3. 73 up some small hills, my pyro would read 875 degrees regularly and at one time read 1000 degrees. I was only driving about 62 MPH. Is this normal? I am...

What does the boost guage tell me?

Ok, thanks. So, what reading should I be looking for? At idle, it reads 1-2. When accelerating to a freeway, it reads about 18, then drops when spped reached. Haven't tried under a tow load yet. It's nice to look at, but I still have no idea what the info is telling me. bob

What does the boost guage tell me?

Aside from the obvious answer, What am I supposed to be getting from my boost guage? I have a BD X monitor digital pyro, trans, and boost guage setup. I understand the pyro and the trans temp, but what am I supposed to be reading from the boost? When I accelerate, the boost increases...

    Changing brake controllers - difficult?

I get it now. LOL thanks

    Changing brake controllers - difficult?

Why do I have to unhook the connector under the dash? Can't I just cut the wire and splice?

    Changing brake controllers - difficult?

I have a brake controller that was installed when I bought my 5th wheel (time delay type). I don't like the way it hesitates when I apply the truck brake before it applies the trailer brakes. Then it only brakes harder the longer you hold the truck brakes down. Not good during an emergency...

    Tow Haul Mode, W/5th Wheel

    Thanks Brian. Excellent advice. bob

    Tow Haul Mode, W/5th Wheel

So, how does the tow/haul know you want to go downhill at 45MPH, for example? Are you supposed to tap the brake or something? Please clear this up for me. Also, if you have the cruise set at 45, if you tap the brake, doesn't that take it out of cruise? I have the 2005 3500, DRW, 3. 73...

    Shifting question - automatic

I'm not sure I know how the TC feels when it locks - still a novice. I take off not too easy, but it shifts from 2-3, then almost immediately shifts from 3-4. Again, this is under no load. Just taking off from a stop.

    Shifting question - automatic

I need to ask you experts a question. Have a 2005 3500 diesel auto, 3. 73. When not towing, the truck accelerates normally. However, as it shifts, it feels as if it shifts 2 gears in rapid succession. In other words, it goes from 1st to 2nd, then to 3rd very very quickly. Not even a pause...

    Placement of EGT probe

If you install the EGT probe post turbo, is the pipe heavy enough to be able to tap the threads? If not, do you weld a "nipple" to the pipe? Also, post turbo, what temp do you use as a "time to let it cool down" setting? By this I mean when pulling a heavy load, (not shut off temp).

    Where to have guages installed

    I live in North Houston

    Where to have guages installed

I will be installing EGT, Trans temp and boost guages shortly. I don't wish to do this myself; where would you recommend having them installed? I don't know any reputable truck places personally (again, I'm a beginner - LOL). :-laf What type of automotive location would be best? Thanks again...
