I have a friend with a '97 5-speed.

I'm going to be utting gauges, and a #0 plate in. How do you think the stock clutch will hold up ?

Truck has 94K on it. It's a 2wd 2500 Ext. Cab.

Thanks,

Won't handle it.

My stock clutch was right @ the limit with the HX35-12, 300 injectors, no cat & 4" resonator & #11 3/4 of the way forward.

One of the dual discs, McLeod or SBC, might be in order.

Is it possible be real soft on the pedal for the timing being while he gets enough scratch to pay for a clutch?

Probably not. The first time I test drove it after I put the #11 in, it slipped in 4th and 5th. I could already tell it ran a LOT better. Drove it a couple more times, and went home and told the wife I need a new clutch. :D It only takes one BOMB, and you're addicted. I'm trying to convince her I need a new turbo, now. :D

I put a #11 in my 96 and the clutch would hold it pretty well. It was a new stock clutch however. It did slip a couple times doing third gear holeshots but I shouldn't have been doing that anyway. I would say you're looking at a new clutch. You'll never know what it will do without it. Good luck!

Surrender at first chance.

If you're going for a no fuel limit (#0) plate, then expect total carnage.

I toasted my TC by installing a #4 plate fully back on a stock truck. The trany survived, but the TC surrendered.

Do you really expect any different answer?

Just not a 12V guy.

Would it be all right to put the #0 plate,, and leave everything else stock ?

Thanks.

Merrick, get out your favorite barbeque sauce for the clutch :D

Sure, you can keep off the pedal, but what fun is that

However, if you are looking for power, I designed the #0 to do it. It's the best there is.

Meanwhile, Sickly has 2. 5 years on his Sachs, still holding. Meaning, a good clutch will work with the #0, a bad clutch will be a bad tasting (and foul smelling) dinner, cooked well done.

If you don't have enough airflow, other engine parts might be added to the dinner. EGT's can get high. . .

Joe,

If a truck that was originally a 215hp already had a DD camshaft, ported head, ATS ex manifold, 4" exhaust , 370 injectors, what turbo would you recommend to go with the above components and a #0 plate to keep EGT's between 1300 to 1400 degrees?

If the above is a sensible combination what hp could one expect to have?

Thank you,

Kent
