Time for me to chime in... .

I hope my rack isn't traveling too much at 10psi... because I see that boost level going down the road quite a bit.

Strick-9:

Hey man, good to hear from you! I've been absorbing a lot lately, and turning some wrenches when I get the chance. Where did I put that stock plate again??!! :D When in doubt, grind it down, make it smooth and hold on tight!!

The truck is BEGGING for bigger injectors and delivery valves... .

Matt - who says that 160hp P7100's are bad? Shame on you!!

I've hard of people driving 100,000 miles without a plate, and no damage at all. I have also heard of people having problems with no plate after only 10,000 miles. You see a little bit of everything in Stephenville, Texas.

I ordered a #0 Plate from Joe D. I'm gonna give it a shot.

It's not as much $$ as a regular TST plate. Get one and give it a shot.

Don't bother asking. NO pictures OR measurements. :p

look at the rack!

with no governor action (engine off) and shut down lever up,plate removed, look in there!!! operate the throttle lever, the rocker lever tip is full rack travel when you see the rack stop moving! im not positive of this but its what i believe. and with my #10 plate full foward it stops the rocker tip approx 1mm before full rack travel thats how i set the do not touch screw to protect the pin. works for me.

I like the 10 plate because it defuels at the higher rpm ,what rpm you can also adjust too. :D

Yeah, with all OEM parts except for Piers' GSK..... EGT's can get a bit high without a plate... . but bone stock and a GSK yielded in only slightly higher EGT's.....

BTW, the #0 plate can be made by grinding your stock plate flat with a bench grinder. If you don't have a bench grinder, it's still cheaper to buy one (get one with a wire brush..... ) than it is to buy a plate from anyone.

Matt - 8000+miles with no plate... ... crossing fingers isn't necessary anymore.....

How much do you take off the stock plate Holeshot, just until it is smooth? Or do you take more off after it is smooth? I do not worry about EGT's, since I can control them very easily. Do your EGT's get outta hand just cruisin down the highway Holeshot?

Pthomas,

Good find. We'll have to make sure this is full rack travel. This is a great way to see if you even need a #0 plate. A #4 slid all the way forward may be all you need. That might allow full rack travel, with nothing more to be gained with a #0.

Maybe Joe D can shed some light on this.

I "think" basically its a rack stop and the afc could be used to adjust your air fuel ratio all the way to the stop. just got to find that good spring and adjustment combo!:) and or use your foot?

There is an increase in fueling from a #4 slid all the way forward to the 0 plate.

Cumminsgetme verified this with dyno runs back in December.

He's away from TDR a lot lately so I dunno if he'll be able to chime in with details, but there was an increase. From 423 to 446 on his truck I believe.

I might be slightly off here.

Chris,

Joe D said the same thing. The #0 plate is the strongest.

What do you think of Pthomas's way of watching the rocker to see where full travel is?.

The only time my EGT's get out of hand is if I do a 45-85mph pull and keep my foot to the steel the whole time.....

Other than that, I can cruise at 75mph with no EGT problems at all...

Matt

even the zero plate/pump could be adjusted to have less than full rack travel! the upper right hand screw?;)

I like to have a hardened plate no mater what curve you choose. "someone" put a cut(grinded )stock plate in my pump without telling me! a couple of years ago and it does wear! needless to say its outa there!
