'00/'01 trany line for temp. gauge

I just went to pick up the trans. line that has the port for the trans. temp gauge. Unfortunately, it was the wrong part. The number that has been posted on this site is not the right one for '00/'01 trucks.

The correct number is #52028732 and lists for $34. The local dealer gave me a 28% discount.
They had to order it, so I should have it by Thur. Call me a cynic, but I'll wait till then to see if it's the right one and will post back here to let others know if it is. The picture on the monitor looked like the right one. We'll see. 2 mos. and waiting for my console back.

BTW, this one cost 1/3 of what they were asking for the other one. The other number, #5011244AA is apparently for earlier year trucks that have a piece of flex hose coming down from the heat exchanger.

wow this is interesting as i bought the other line from up north and paid double that price plus shipping and duty from canada . did the line you ordered and recieved as wrong also have the flex line ? what was incorrect , the one i installed was correct .

No, the line I went to pick up did not have the flex line attached. The parts guys told me that line was for a '94+. The flex line was separate. List price was $105, my cost $76.
The line, part #5011244AA was similar, except after it went under the trans and then forward to where it turned up to the heat exchanger, it stopped about 10" below the HE. I guess the difference is made up by the flex hose.

I was pretty suprised too when they quoted me the price of $25. 50 for part number #52028732AC. The picture on the parts monitor showed a temp. gauge port. To tell you the truth, I didn't ask anymore questions, I just went and paid for it. Figured I was ahead at that point. Hence, my reference to being a little cynical. We'll see on Thur.
Was the part you got, continuous steel tubing from the trans. to the HE? or do you have a flex line?

Edit. CRAP!! Well as I was getting ready to post this, I decided to look at the part number on the trans. line that is on my truck. You can probably guess what I found. Yup, #52028732AC. Well, I'll call the parts guy tomorrow morning and see what he can find out. I had a feeling this was too good.

Tmacc, Ask your parts guy about the snow plow option with auto transmission. That line has a "tee" already in the line so I am told. Sorry I don't have the part number.

I have the snow plow prep and my truck does not have a "tee". Another cost cutting measure by DC? If you have a sorces for a part number, It would be much appreciated. But I will ask the parts guy tomorrow.

Is your AA part continuous from trans. to HE?
The AC part I mentioned is probably the wrong one. I'll go by the dealer today and crawl under the truck to see if The AA part is routed properly and see what the flex hose costs. Now I should say that the tag on the AA part was hand written. So, it's possible there could be error there too. I'll probably give Blair out in BC a call to see what he has to say. He said that he had more AA lines coming in on Thurs. Maybe he can shed some light on the subject.

Mopar, was your line continuous or did it have flex on it. There should be a tag w/ the part number on it. Is it the AA line?

my line had the flex line also , and i also got the fitting to swap out the the fitting on the HE that had the check ball , i saved my parts so i could go back if i need to .

i have a funny feeling that the 2000 has the temp sensor built into the trans somewhere in the VB and harness , i'll get my manual and see what i can find out .

i'm feeling a bit better about spending that money , seriously if Blair knew of a different line for less money , he and Bill , would have been pushing that part knowing how CHEAP we are .

here's a heads up on the install of the flex line , , it's a pain to get the line on the HE started if you have the other end connected to the trans due to the angle the HE is at , the reason for the flex line i believe . it took me maybe 20 minutes to connect that side with a bunch of cussing in the process and lots of trans fluid running down my arm . #ad

OK, Now I understand. I called Blair and he cleared up my confusion. The AA part is suppose to come WITH the flex hose. The part at my local dealer was missing the flex hose. (He was apparently confused too. The local parts guy, I mean. ) You also need the the fitting that is pipe thread on one end and flair fitting on the other. This replaces the check valve. I'll probably just order it from Blair, since he has the fitting too. It might cost me another ten bucks, but at least it saves me running around to find the fitting. Yeah, I thought I'd made some new discovery that might save us all some money. Oh, well. I ordered the correct part from Blair yesterday. The local parts guy could have gotten it too, but since Blair helped me out with this, I wanted to give him my business. Also, he has the other fitting and that saves me running around time.
