'00 2500 front disc brakes

After I've been driving awhile, when I backup, I sometimes hear a whining noise. More noticeable when I backup and turn. This noise seems to be coming from the front brakes.

Is there a wear indicator telling me its time for a brake pad replacement?

I have a 2000 2500 2X4 QC and the right front brake pad became detached from the plate and was producing a very high pitched squeal. It started about 15,000 mi and I got tired of it around 20,000mi. I noticed that when I stepped on the break it would stop squeaking. also, On making a corner it would stop or increase depending on which way I turned. I took it to the dealer and they wanted to charge me so I replaced the pads myself. It was very easy to do. I hope this helps. Good Luck

PEELING BRAKES

My 01. 5 has had front and rear pads replaced because of the friction material peeling off backing plate.
