Do they fit?? I thought i saw a thread on here about them not working. But i don't see why they wouldn't?? I found a good deal on a set of 4 of those nice aluminum ones. They sure do look alot better than the 99 chrome ones #ad
Thanks for any help

The rear drums on the 99 are larger in diameter than the 00&up. The wheels won't clear the drums on your 99. A long time ago somebody on the site machined down the drums on a 99 to run the wheels. Can't remember the details on that.

I have 8x16 BAJA wheels on my 2001. 5 prior to that I had them on a 1999. 5. They fit with no problems. The only thing I don't really care for is the offset difference. The 99's wheel was mounted pretty close to the center the 01 the wheel is mounted close to the outside. The wheels stick out more on the 01 then on the 99. I put on fender flares to save the paint. I have 53?? miles on this sit up and no problems.
I have the 4 wheel disc brakes I don't know about the 2001s with the rear drums.
Good luck

That's right, they won't fit the 99-older trucks. I was the one who modified my former '99 accept the 2000+ Dodge aluminum alloys and it wasn't fun. I don't reccommend it for fear of someone removing too much metal. You have to modify the front spindles as well as the rear drums.

A couple of months ago I saw a '97 2500 4x4 Cummins running down the street and he had the 2000 style aluminum alloys on his truck. Curiosity got to me so I chased him down to a nearby restraunt and talked up a truck storm with him,he had never heard of the TDR. I asked if he had much trouble getting the wheels to fit his '97,and he said it was a PITA! He did exactly the same thing I did to my old '99 for them to fit.

How much metal did you have to remove on the rear drums? How much did you have to clearance the front suspension? Clark and I can do pretty much anything that needs to be done to get these wheels on his truck (We have full access to chassis and machine shops).

Thanks,
Jonathon

Wow, had no idea that using 00 or 01 wheels on a 99' would be such a PITA!

Glad I didn't go through with buying a $1000 bucks worth of wheels that don't fit!

Aftermarket, much better way to go. About the same money, and EASIER!

Unless your going to the 19. 5 wheels or something
