a buddys truck has been having a prob for a while and i am now trying to track it down, so b4 i tear into it any direction would be appreciated. it only happens every once in a while, i didnt it 2 times to me on the way to work (which i am glad, now i have felt the prob) first time was when i downshifted to 3rd then tried to accellerate and hit 4th it seemed like it wouldnt take the fuel. motor never coughed or sounded any different but it just wouldnt accelerate almost like a slight dead pedal, but if you floor it it picks right up and goes. it gets great mpg, no codes are being thrown, vp44 is less than 1yr old, pusher pump, and an ez. it does it with and without the ez. i am leaning towards a sensor somewhere but since i am a 12v guy i am not real sure where to begin. thanks to all, josh

i guess i should have wrote that it was just changed 2 weeks ago in my orig post. Thanks for the reply, i guess may as well change that again and clean the separater out to make sure and eliminate that first

I suppose the accelerator pedal position position sensor (APPS) may need reset, I've never had that condition though so I can't say exactly what the symptoms are like.

My truck had almost the same symptoms, slowley got worse with time. . Replaced APPS problem solved. To my knowledge there is no adjustment you just have to replace the unit. . It is a dealer only item about $400. bucks... .

The same thing happened to me last year. Pedal just wouldn't respond sometimes and if you pressed it to the floor it would take off after a few seconds. The truck ran great otherwise. It ended up being a fried lift pump and that later took out the vp44. I had a 0216 code among others and a new vp44 and the in tank lift pump has solved the problem so far. I hope to go to a fass soon and get rid of the in tank pump, I fear it is no better than the original. Hope it is the APPS and not the vp44!

the transmission output sensor gave me the same trouble and the dealer gave me a new turbo before his technicion figured it out.

My 01' has done that to me a few times, never checked the codes, but the engine light will come on for few days then back off.

mine does the same thing but always around the 1750 rmp to 1950 rpm range, with the same pedal position cruising, just a little studder like Im feathering the pedal, if I set the cruise right at that point, the problem goes away so I'm leaning towards the apps, but here's the kicker, it only does this in the winter???????????
