I'm sure lots of u all tried. but has any one succeeded in making these work? for those of you that have not tried. this is the problem . the rear drums are to big for the wheel to go over it . it seems so close you would think it's a pressed fit . i looked at my 95 auto with the 70 rear and it was just as big . my thought was to turn 50 thousands or so off the outter lip of the drum on the lathe . i figured i get some ideas from others . but if not i will try this and get back with my results . mike

You are correct, if you turn a little off the drum you will be all set. This is what several others have done to fit the newer alloys on a pre-2000 truck.

Here's what I did to my '94 for a set of '02 alloys I got for free... Jack the rear of the truck up on stands and take both rear wheels off. Drop the truck in 1st and 'apply' an 8" side grinder to the outer lip of the drum. Test fit the new wheel 'till it fits and take a little extra off so there's no binding. I ended up taking off almost all of the lip. Took me about 15 minutes a side and was easier than the setup on a lathe. Made a huge difference vs. the steelies I took off, you'll love 'em.

Did you all have any problems with the fronts? I have a free set of Alloy's off a 01' truck and when I put them on my 98' they hit the steering knuckle and tie-rod ends?

Thanks,

Brandon

Good idea!

Has anyone else had this problem?

It seems that you would have to remove a lot of material to get them to fit. Has anyone done this?

thanks,
