Dual piston calipers do not a better brake make!
At 30K miles, I was greeted at lunch yesterday by the new Dodge brake wear indicator, you know, where the last 3/16" of pad crumbles off and you hear that metal to metal grind.
New pads at Napa, $85. Replacement for chewed up rotor $119, replacement for other rotor because Napa doesn't have an adapter big enough to turn it, and I'm not about to pull the front hubs off my 4x4, another $119 :{
And this week I was going to look into ordering some drilled/slotted rotors, because I knew I was within 10K miles of a brake job.
The old rotors had some serious heat cracks, and I only tow a 3000# boat, and occasionally (few times a year) and 8000-10000# tractor.
Learn from my mistake, and don't trust the brakes past 30K miles, and pull the pads to inspect them, don't just look at them from the outside.
By the way, to pull the mount that the caliper bolts to, so you can get the rotor off, you need a 16MM 12-point socket, and lots of elbow grease, those bolts are on tight! The torx caliper bolts weren't bad.
