So Im assuming that the higher torque (120-125) helps keep the stock headgasket intact? Im getting ready to install a set of ARP's on mine but Im using the stock headgasket (I know I should go ahead and O-ring). I was planning on setting the wastegate around 50-55psi. Thanks, Travis

I torqued my stock HG to 122 and It took about a month until it blew at 55psi - now it o-ringed and retorqued and running 70+psi. with no probs

can you post up a quick sequence on which method you used to retorque (line torque, cummins spec) and how many times, thanks.

Yeah I just got off the phone with a guy about fire-ringing for me. What to do what to do.....

Where are you at in NC? I do o-ring s with BHJ tool if you need it

O-ringed head with arp studs torque to 115lbs with lube drive easy low boost for a week. Loosen and retorque one stud at a time to 122lbs drive for a month mark a stud with a paint marker. Loosen and retorque again to 122lbs the nut will turn 1/8-1/4 passed mark. Ideal is to retorque till the nut don't turn anymore by then the o-rings are fully seated in the head gasket.

That's what I do too, except I bring it up to temp, and let it cool down and then do a retorque before even driving it. Don't be surprised on how many retorques it takes before you don't get anymore movement. I also re-apply arp lube for each re-torque.

Just and update, installed my head studs two nights ago. I torqued them all to 77 ft/lb with moly lube as I was putting them in one at a time. After all the studs were installed I torqued them in sequence to 96. Went back and torqued them to 122. Along with the head studs went a turbo and some nasty injectors. Gonna drive it easy til the weekend and retorque them this weekend..... well fairly easy at least.
