Hey There!

I just joined TDR a couple weeks ago, so here's my first post. I just thought I'd chime in to tell everyone about my unique truck. I've been posting for the past two years on 4btswaps.com about my conversion. They've been VERY helpful over there and I'm sure a lot of the same members are over here too. You can check out the details of my conversion via the link in my signature. I will post some pictures if people are interested as well as any technical data. If you have questions about your own buildup though, please don't ask me. Feel free to send them over to 4btswaps.com. Well thanks all for the warm welcoming (assuming there will be one :) )!!!

All I can say is good for you, young man.

When I was a pup I stuffed a Buick V6 in a Willys Wagon. In addition, I once owned a 67 Land Rover with a chevy iron duke four banger and a warn overdrive (a vehicle I truly miss).

Wow. Your pictures are impressive! Looks all top shelf. Is it running down the road yet? Welcome to TDR. You'll like being part of our diesel family. The info and help here is worth more than the price. Herb

Nice truck! So is the 4bt swap complete or in progress?

It's "complete", but I will be working on it forever. Adding and modifying things accordingly...

It is running on the road. I made a trip down to Louisiana and back this past Spring and hopefully will be doing it again. Since I moved a few weeks ago, it is now my only, and primary vehicle. I will be putting tons of miles on it.

I've already used some TDR info from Issue 56 (which was a direct pull from a couple forum topics here which I plan to reply to when I get a chance). I installed a pair of LEDs inside the cab to show me when the grid heaters turn on and off. Since I am using a 24V PCM & ECM combo they perform as they did per manufacturer specification. It's fun to watch them go on and off and such.

What kind of fuel economy are you getting?

I always get over 20mpg. I have yet to tow with my truck, so no idea on how much it will go down. My record so far is 28MPG on a full tank. I take religious records of mileage and gallons at each fuel stop, so these are real numbers of average fuel economy over a tank.

Nice! Today in the paper is the new BMW 6 cylinder Twin Turbo diesel with great mileage. Wonderful car, too bad it's $50 grand as shown. 425 horses out of the gate!! Nice to see diesels are getting installed by makers in numbers again. I like doing repower jobs like yours. It's very satisfying knowing it's a one of a kind. Herb
