I just bought a used Edge EZ for my 02 HO. It's an 01 model EZ. Called Edge and ordered the "map adapter"(still haven't seen it and it's been a week already). Anyway, I've got the instructions off Edge's website and am totally confused.

I was really only trying to familiarize myself w/ this before the adapter got here. What confuses me is where the map sensor is. Their instructions show it just behind the fuel filter(or "down by the ps pump on some trucks"). I haven't been able to locate it. One thing to metion is that I've relocated my lift pump w/ the kit from Geno's, don't know if that's pertinent or not.

Also, I'm clueless about the "data link. " Maybe I need these things described to me in more simple terms.

To make a long story short, my engine looks nothing like what the instructions show. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ian

The MAP sensor is on the side of the intake manifold above the stock lift pump location. There are 2 sensors there, the other being the IAT. I believe the MAP is the forward one. You'll be able to tell when you see the connector on the adapter you ordered.
The data link is a 2 pin connector on a harness down near the PS/vacuum pump. It is not connected to anything but has an empty plug inserted into it for protection.

I found the data link.

This is the MAP sensor right? If so, are there any tricks to unhooking it? I tried w/ no success. I don't see a release tab or anything. Maybe I'm looking too hard. Thanks again.

Ian

I just checked my truck and wanted to correct the info I gave you last night. The Data Link connector is coming out of a harness under the fuel filter. I hope that's the one you found.
The connector on the MAP sensor can be an sob. Looking at your picture you first need to push down the red tab on the connector. This allows the connector latch to move. Now hold the latch down and pull the connector loose. The latch is on the grey part of the connector near the black piece on the same side as the red tab. Good luck.

That's where I found the data link, under the fuel filter.

I thought maybe those red tabs had something to do with the connector.

Thanks again. Now I just need for the adapter I bought to get here.

UPDATE:

I CAN NOT get the MAP sensor unhooked. I pressed on the red tab and nothing happened. I stuck a mirror on the firewall so I could better see what I was messing with. I'm not proud if this, but I used a little screwdriver to pry up the tab I thought was holding me up. And wouldn't you know it, it broke off. I'm not too worried b/c that p. o. s. still won't budge. What am I missing? I thought these were a 10 minute install. As of now, I've worked on the MAP sensor alone for at least an hour. I've tried searching hoping others have been here before and came up empty-handed. Any fresh insight will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ian

The red tab slides out, probably from the picture straight up. It works like a forked wedge that snaps in lightly. Not sure what you are going to do now to get it out. Working in that whole area sucks. Maybe drop the fuel filter down to get more room. Or wait until the adaptor comes from Edge so you can see better how it works.

The red tab is still intact. I never thought it would be this involved. I imagined myself just looking under the hood and everything would fall into place. Things are never that way I guess. I'll update again tomorrow.

Ian

The red tab just moves back and forth an 1/8 inch or so. From the position shown in your picture it should be pushed down. The part you broke off should have been pushed in instead of pried out. The connector has a seal in it that can make it difficult to pull apart even when the latches are disengaged. It's all kind of like a chinese puzzle. When you get the adapter it will be easier to see how it all works.

Well, I heeded the advice to wait until I had the MAP adapter in hand to mess w/ the sensor. I called Edge this morning to check on my adapter. It has been 9 business days since I ordered it. Was informed the MAP adapter was on backorder and has been for a couple of weeks. That didn't sit too well w/ me b/c I was told the day I ordered it that the adapter would be shipped same day. Whatever happened to common courtesy? Not even a phone call to explain the order taker's mistake. What to do now? Wait? IS there another adapter out there that will work?

Thanks,

Ian
