Truck runs great, just cycled switch to check codes and get a 1693. I dont see it on my code list. Can somebody explain???

Thanks in advance!

Richard

Basically, the 1693 is simply a "flag code" allerting you there is another (or more), possibly serious, fault code deeper inside the ECM. Switch the ignition on, and then off again WITHOUT starting the engnine, 3 consequetive times, and any other codes (Pcodes) held in the ECM will scroll across the display - write them down, and we can tell you what they indicate.

The 1693 code stands for DTC Detected in Campanion JTEC Module.

In practical terms, that 1693 code is much like the flag on a mailbox - when it's in the "up" position, it alerts someone that there's something in the box - the 1693 code itself doesn't isolate or indicate ANY *specific* problem.

OK... . I also had a PO500: Vehicle speed sensor malfunction???[what is this]

and a PO217: Engine overtemp condition. . I hauled a D2 5U bulldozer from Utah to Tulsa OK. and did get her hot in the mountains.

Now what is the Veh. speed sensor??

How or can I clear these codes? Will disconnecting and "shorting" Batt. cables do it?

THANKS!!!!
