First of all - good to hear you are OK. That's the most important part.

As far as the fix goes good luck. Mine was "T" boned on a bridge several years ago and was totaled. After dealing with the insurance company I got them to raise the value do to good records keeping and receipts for non performance add-ons. I bought the truck back and spent the winter putting it back together in a late '40s garage - had to take the mirrors off to get it in. There was about 3" inches in front and back but more than enough room on the damaged side. I now have a "Reconstructed" title but I still have my truck as a daily driver. All was paid for by her insurance company.

The only thing I had - health wise - was a deep tissue bruise on my right arm that went away after about 2 weeks.

My brother t-boned a car with his 94. He would not let the salvage yard tow it, Dad came and got him with the trailer. The truck was taken home, and put in the shed. The lady that pulled out in front of him, was covered. Her insurance man wanted to look at the truck by himself, and my brother would not let him. The insurance man had to make an appointment with my brother to see the truck. first the value was very low, and my brother was not happy. He said find me another like it, with the diesel for that money. The insurance man could not. Finally they figured on a price, it was higher then I expected him to get, plus he got to keep the truck. You may have to work at it, but you should get fair value for the damages, or another truck.

Yer OK!!!!!

Thats the most important News! I lost "Old Ugly" last year. The insurance totaled it out and I bought it back for scrap. It depends on the condition of your rig, post accident. Mine was pretty badly rusted, had electrical issues and no mods whatsoever. The only real issue was a good engine, transmission and T-case. I hope you have all you need to make your repairs or replace yours. As you can see by my signature, Dave Valentine gave me his old '93! It is a great working truck! I wish you well! GregH

Head On

Glad to hear that you were not hurt but sorry bout your truck. Good thing that the other vehicle wasn't going an faster. !! Kind like hitting a brick for him.

Glad you're not hurt seriously. My eyes are welling up now thinking about the truck.

HTML:
Yeah im thankful im not seriously hurt that im aware of, went to dr. yesterday because i just didn't feel right, was having nausea issues and shoulder pain, will see what if anything else creeps up...

Some advice if you don't mind.

I was in an accident a couple of years ago in my Dodge. I was stopped in a jam on the expressway, wife was behind me in her car. She stopped. Then she got rear ended and was pushed into my truck.

I only had minor bumper damage F and R (just very slight tweaks actually) and I felt fine.

A week or so later I had a little neck stiffness, but didn't think anything of it. I never went to the doctor.

I still have neck stiffness on and off and I am sure it's from that accident.

So don't sluff it off if you have any pain at all.

See the doctor SOON.

I sat as a juror on a court case where the plaintiff didn't go to the doctor for a year and a half after the accident. A lot of her claim was bogus, and we basically awarded her nothing, but the time delay for seeing a doctor was a very big factor in her lack of award.

See the Doctor...

Good news no serious injuries as far as you know! I would say do a nationwide search for a replacement truck, if needed. Do not let his insurance company out of your sights :-laf.

Godspeed, Patrick.

Thanks you guys i appreciate all the concerns and advice. . actually they are telling me they can't get me a rental until they speak with him, I suspect their policy holder is either hiding or has ran, either way the policy he had was current and in affect... and i have another Dr. appt for monday and im out of work at least til then per doctor. .

I have pictures im sure everyone was waiting on, Wed. nite it looked much worse but wasn't as bad as i thought today in the daylite. . but the car was as bad as i thought.

Could you ve your insurance company deal with his? Since it was his fault and he was ticketed that might be the way to go. I had to do that with an individual that was less than cooperative.

Bob

Glad your O. K. , but get checked out anyway, you may have issues later like JLeonard. I agree with Bob in talking to your insurance agent. Remember, the adjuster has only one concern and thats to get the insurance company off as cheaply as possible. Do not settle for less than a direct replacement price.

Replacing those axle parts, along with a new tie rod, drag link and inspecting/replacing your steering box? My front spring was also bent, same damage location as yours, I also had a bent front axle tube!). Genos carrys a Borgeson rebuilt steering box! if you need one for a rebuild project. The axle C/kingpin/bearing/yoke/hub assembly as well as the lockout parts are?????

The tierod is a real scarce item. Had to build one from scratch, for the '93, last summer. None to be had, around here! Hope you can collect on this loss and replace your rig! GregH

As much as I hate to say this, if things are not going well with your discussions with the other insurance company, maybe it's time to involve a Personal Injury Attorney. They don't take any crap from insurance companies & know what they can get away with.

My former brother-in-law was a PI lawyer & when my sister got into an accident, he got a great settlement for her. The accident was HER fault!!!

I was involved in a head on collision with my company truck (not my fault) & decided not to bother my brother-in-law. I got the value of the truck & that was about it. I'm sure my BIL thought I was an idiot & I have to agree with him.

Good luck with your dealings with the insurance company & finding or fixing your truck.

Your best bet is to not let them total it that way you can fix it yourself good to hear your ok and Man were you lucky to not be in a car

i agree, had i been in my little car i really don't even want to think about it... . My conversations with his ins. company are going as i figured, of course they are saying they have to talk to him, which i was like he either ran or is hiding, either way their responsible and should be for allowing someone who has 2-3 other policies that were cancelled for whatever reason to get insured again(i have done my own calling also) i tracked down the office which issued him that policy.

My background is in law so this bear isn't going away anytime soon. Im tired of others not being responsible for their actions and that was before this, i do know for me and him their was angel's riding shotgun with us on Wed. nite. when i meet with the adjuster im going to let him know up front either fixed like it was or replaced, no in between! The good thing is she fired off and ran with no strange sounds, they don't call Cummins bulletproof for nothing. I had been asleep and resting but got woke so figured would check msg's etc... im in pain, neck back etc. . As for a personal Inj. counsel, i have made my contact calls because i see this being an issue... unfortunately for his ins. comp. i don't take crap either... Will keep u guys posted and thanks again for the get wells and prayers... .

I had a wreck year's ago that was 100% the other person's fault. My Toyota truck was a year old and had 10k damage to a 6k truck. After I got the run around from the other party's insurance, I contacted my insurance and they gave me a fair value for my truck. As for pain and suffering, I ended up with a lawyer who sued her insurance and then also went after my own company for under-insured coverage. Eighteen years later, I still have the same insurance company I had back then. Remember your insurance company works for you, the other company does not. They can pay you and then go after the other company.

I understand that and i have way over the average coverage so thats not a problem, im going to see what takes place tomorrow as i have a call in to a person im sure will help me out or refer me to someone that handles such. I have been in contact with my Ins. comp. and they have been helping me as im blind as a bat when it comes to such, this is my first traffic accident, im sure they will be closed tomorrow since its presidents day but we will see what takes place. . I am having issues with my back and spine area, stiffness etc. . i have another appt. in morning so im hoping the dr. will refer me to someone that can check my insides and back/neck area... Im so d@#$ tired of laying down, sitting and can't do much of anything(which is ******* me off) im one to be on the go constantly... .

Sorry to hear of your troubles but I'm glad your feeling OK that could have been a bad one. Were are you located I keep an eye open for a similar truck if only for monetary comparisons!

im in Va. South West part of the state. . like i was telling someone else, i know she doesnt' look good but its mine and its the principle behind it all, just irritates me. . Yes this could have been fatal had i been in a car, the other driver is very lucky to have walked away, he can be thankful for airbags.
