Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 02 24valve dies and restarts while driving

02 cab-chassis with 240,000 miles engine light on. Tach comes and goes, temp and oil gauges sometimes drop to O and engine light goes out at this time, seperate from tach. When temp and oil gauges come back engine light is on with them. Edge juice with attitude screen constantly shows rpm, and engine temp with no interuption. codes are P PCU P1693 P ECU P0217 P0501 P1698 Engine sometimes shut off for 1 second then back on sudenly, about 3 times evry 100 miles. Today it shut down completly, llow fuel light come on, costed into a driveway, shut key off, restarted engine like normal, and drove off. this happen twice in about 50 miles. Any ideas apreciated.

I had symptoms very much like this around the same mileage with my '98. 5. It got worse and worse over time. In the end it was the ECM causing it - and it was a nightmare figuring it out.
