I did a search but couldnt find anything. I want to put rear disc brakes on my 01 3500. I already have a 2002 dana 80 out of a 2500. i havent had time to throw a tape on them and see if they are the same but was wondering if anyone knows off the top of there head if they are the same? Are the studs differant lenghts? Axle differant widths from 2500 to 3500? Both axles are 3. 54 gears with limited slip. So i have a spare if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the help

I have an 02 with a D70 with discs and was wondering the same thing. I would like to put a D80 in but am not sure if the brakes will interchange if I put in an older axle. If it will work I may be interested in taking your old one off your hands PM me. I could even come to Minn to get it.

I believe that the dually and SRW diff are a different width. Dually is not as wide. SNOKING

Axles in the dually are longer, but same spline count. Both 35 spline, same tube diameter and everything. The dually is actually wider than the SRW and the cab and chassis axles.

Billvo- Is 3. 54 the right gear ratio for you?

If the axles are differant then i will stay with my 3500 axle and look into doing the swap later. I thought if they were the same i would switch them now and sell the spare one. It looks like you could switch the braking setup. only noticable differace at first glance is that the backing plate for the drum brakes the nuts are on the inside and the discs are on the outside. Looks like you just pop the studs out and switch them around. I may be interested in selling the 02 axle with the dics left on it if i knew how much it would cost me to do get just the braking set up.

I think the bolt pattern is different for the disks than the drum. Friend bought a dana 80 disk no calipers or anything. He didn't want to have to mess with the mastercylinder and buying the calipers. So he took the backing plates off of his dana 70. Drilled them out with a hole saw for the right diameter of the dana 80 tube. then he had to redrill the holes in the backing plate for the disk brake pattern. Worked very well.

I got looking around at the axles and they are differant. The disc brake system wont bolt on to my 3500 axle.

So I am going to sell it. Its a complete axle. Its a 2002 Dana 80 with disc brakes, 3. 54 gears, limited slip. e-brake cables are there. There seems to be alot of guys interesed so p. m me with an offer.

I am located near St. Paul, Mn.

Thanks

Eric
