2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission '02 CTD Factory Aluminum 16X8 Wheels

I am in the process of purchasing a '97 CTD. I have a set of '02 factory aluminum wheels that measure 16x8 inches. To the naked eye, the offset looks different then the '97 factory steel wheels. Will the '02's fit without any clearance problems? Will the center caps fit without any clearance problems? Any feedback would be much appreciated!!

The problem is the 13 inch drums used on the rear wheels model year 1999 vs. the 12 inch drums used model year 2000 (when the forged aluminum rims first appeared) through mid 2001. I am running '01 factory alloy's on my '98. All I had to do was have the outer lip of the rear drums turned down some. I had no clearance issues up front but some do. My cousin's '97 needed just a tiny bit of grinding on the tips of the steering arms and that was it. One other thing is that when turning sharp the brake hoses can rub the inside of the tires slightly. All you have to do here is bend the brackets just a little. Been running mine over 70k and no problems.

i did the same thing on my 1995. they look nice. you need the center caps off the alloy wheels. in the front you need nothing except to check the brake hose clearance. in the back you need to have the drums turned down on the outside. i think it was an 1/8 inch it does not effect anything. there is also a post that tells you how to grind them down but it is much easier to turn them. i had problems when i turned. it would rub in the front but i got wheels spacers 1/4 inch i believe and it fixed it. they were like $20 off ebay. good luck

This helps a ton! Thanks a bunch, sounds funny to buy a truck to fit all the BOMBS I have in stock, rather than buy a truck and then buy items for it. Again, thanks a million. I would buy you all a beer if I could!!!

any machine shop should be able to skin the drums if you have clearance issues there, I did a buddies that has a 98, he wanted to put the 16x8 wheels on and the drums slightly rubbed the rims, I can't remember off hand how much we turned off of them to fit nice...

I just did this to my 97. Took about 3/16" off the rear drum lip. I also need to do a bit of grinding to one steering arm. It rubs a bit when fully turned in one direction. Other than that they were easy to put on and look good.
