Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) '02 HO turbo housing???

From various posts, I have deduced that a FEW variations exist in turbo housings factory-installed on our trucks - since it might be helpful info for later mods, what do I look for on my turbo to determine exactly which size housing *I* have?



Not that it has any bearing on the above, I see my turbo uses a short length of rubber tuming to operate the wastegate - should make addition of my Edge Comp a bit easier...

Rubber tubing is a nice thing. Cause when you get your EZ Comp the brass fitting comes out and you put in the supplied brass elbo and viola! 35+ lbs of boost. You lucky dog you. There should be a data plate on the turbo with the model # Have fun.

Gary,

You have a 12cm housing HX35W Holset turbo, all the manual engines currently come with this turbo.

Autos come with the little HY35 9cm housing with the hard line.

Why?

Why is the small HY used with just the autos?

Because of the lag caused by the automatic transmission in combination with the HX35/12.
