I just recently acquired an 02' 3500 5speed 4X4 with 3. 55's. The truck is in great shape for the mileage (172k) I am wanting to run so mods for the main reason of mileage improvements. I know that an intake and exhaust system are a given, but after that, I get clouded in options.

Initially I was thinking a Juice w/attitude, but I want to hear what everyone thinks.

I am now leaning towards an EZ and a set of RV275's. Someone please help me decide which way to go with this thing.

Oh Yeah, I installed a BD lift pump system mounted on the frame that removes the factory pump.

first of all, you will want to have guages. Fuel pressure most definitly on the 24 valve, pyrometer and boost, which i'm sure you are aware of. if you get the Juice, it has it all already which would be nice. but as for fuel economy on that, i'm not sure if you would see much of an improvement unless you can really keep your foot out of it, i know i cant :-laf . I don't have experience with it myself but i think the EZ and the RV275's would probably be an excellent choice for mpg improvements. Any ideas on the clutch life? with the added power, you'll need to be aware of a possible clutch upgrade. if the clutch is in good condition, you should be alright if you dont drive it too hard.

gauges are a must :) After that I would throw my vote at a smarty with small injectors say dons 1. 6's or the rv's. Smarty does a better job then the ez and also has more uses. just my . 02 :)

wow havent seen you here really, take a break from bd? anyway, the smarty is the single best thing. mileage wise the 275's and a ez would probably be good

After looking at your readers rigs and seeing the boat you got there I can see why you are looking at saving fuel money elsewhere. I have a friend with a 28 foot sonic with a 500+cubic inch gm engine and $100 worth of fuel will only buy you a short days fun. just idling or easy cruising its not bad but the fun factor is expensive. GPS top speed has been 78mph on it. Oo.

I would tell you to go injectors and ez because the fun you would have with a comp or smarty will over take any fuel savings. :D If you plan to go more in future then go Smarty and comp. :D

I wish I still had that boat. Since then I have sold that one and replaced it with a 38' Donzi Daytona with (2) 540" 600hp motors, so fuel is a KILLER!!!!

The boat is a big ole' pig, but with the 600's, and the current setup it'll run 84 all day, has seen 86 GPS a couple of times. I actually have it for sale now that I have a 5mo. old little girl :D :D

Thanks for the tips for my rig. I am pretty familiar with the 3rd gens and how to make them go, but I don't want to sink much money into my 02', and I just want decent RELIABLE power.

I'm still around over at BD, I just don't post as much anymore. I have gotten so busy, that now I just tend to skim through the site. I spend more time on TDR, but the wealth of knowledge is so great here, that I end up reading more rather than posting :)
