Does anyone know what it takes to get an 02 motor to run in a 99 truck. I switched everything from the 99 to the 02. I'am not getting a crank sensor reading and was wondering if the reluctor ring was not on the 02 cranks. Customer is suposed to pickup truck tommorow and it won't start. The long block is all I used off the 02. #@$%!

Probably missing the ring on the crankshaft. The 02 used the cam sensor which would open a can of worms with the 99 ECM. When Cummins re-did the 53 to 56 block in my truck they had CPS codes and found the replacement block did not have the ring. Needless to say they pulled the engine again to install the ring as they said it would have gotten messy trying to convert to the cam sensor.

I believe so. I "think" they all still have the holes drilled and tapped for the tone ring tho. The bad part is taking the pan off to mount the ring.
