Did you drive the truck much in the 12 hours? Codes will get eliminated after several start and driving sequences, I don't know the number. I'd imagine after just 12 hrs that it would still be there though. I thought it was a significant number in the series, like a couple dozen.
I just recently replaced my VP44, it was surging for a long time (several months), then I experienced VERY low power and crappy idling on cold starts. It got to where I would have to drive 4-5 miles before it would settle down and then magically come back to normal. I got fed up and replaced it, with a HRVP44. If you're not experiencing bad performance I'd stick it out a while. At least with my experience, you should be ok but eventually it will fail (well they ALL will, but when no one knows).
I always had good pressure, I changed my lift pump out at the first sign of failure (surging pressures from 5-15 psi). Some pumps last long, some don't My brothers went over 200k with a comp tapped in for 180k of it. I made it 63k, with a comp tapped in for 30k.
Good luck
