What are the requirements and directions to use the high Idle feature on the 03 ho, 48re ? Directions etc. I know there are alot of threads about this I just can't find one specific to my year and model. Lets assume that it has been enabled by the dealership. What would the TSB # be ? Thanks alot.

I think you turn on the Cruise Control and push the accel till the desired RPM. Here is the Link for all Dodge TSBs

Yeah; what he said. :-laf

I think on the '03 models, the automatic high idle kicks in when the outside air temperature is at or near freezing AND if the coolant temperature is below a certain threshold..... at least that's what I've noticed on mine. If it's below freezing on a cold start, it will go straight to high idle after the grid heaters have finished cycling.

I know it's for the 04's, I have it on my 305/555 and it works great.

Turn on the cruise, put the set button and it raises the rpm to about 1000 RPM's, then push the resume/increase button and you can raise the rpms to about 1500. Oo.

From my understanding, it is already in the ECM, you just have to have the dealer turn it on.

Here is the TSB #18-004-04

I went to the dealer last weak to have the pinion factor changed, and while I was there I asked about the high idle enable. Their diesel tech said no-go. While he said that he did it to his truck and loves it, he added that it was not possible on a "true-blue" '03. I told him that mine was a late build '03 HO with 48RE and he looked at me like I had 3 heads, and said that the HO's didn't come with and auto in '03. His having said that pretty well ended that conversation, and now I am gonna do some looking for a shop that may be able to help me.

Well i'll be a monkeys uncle! -- I just checked and this is now what I think:

04 model - needs flash then turn it on

04. 5+ already in there, just need turn on ... ... ... ...

Yes I had my 04 flashed and then the pto feature turned on. Works great.

If its an 03, HO or not, it can't be done. Already tried also.

The 03 has a seperate box that controls the cruise. The 04+ has the cruise in the same box as the cpu contoller.

I use my Bully Dog downloader for high idle, the PTO idler works great, and you can engage the exhaust brake with it in high idle for quick warm-ups and keeping it warm.
