got a load

I am in the process of purchasing an 03 3500. I am interested in removing the box bed and replacing with an aluminum flat bed. However, I've been unable to find a flat bed manufacturer that makes a bed for the 42 inch wide frame. Anyone else have ideas or experienced this problem? Thanks.

many have adapted beds made for the earlier rigs on the 03. no prob, just sits an inch and a half higher than on 2nd gen but thats ok,,,03 cab is higher and headache rack lines up that way

mine has crosspieces under runners to sit ontop of frame

I got mine done by Western Hauler out of Ft. Worth TX. Talk to Adam at Western Hauler, he'll treat ya right. They had the truck for about a week. The reason I choose Western Hauler was they were only one's who know how configure a vac/hyd brake system for me.

I have an Eby. http://www.mheby.com/Flatbed_Bodies.htm I know it does not exactly line up perfectly with the frame but without looking and measuring, I can't tell you anymore. (It's dark and raining outside) I bought it used too so I don't even know if it was even spec'd for the truck.

Anyway, it is a well built bed. Not as polished as Aluma-line though. The deck has a door that flips over to reveal the gooseneck ball. The door could be a bit larger to accomadate an air ride hitch.

One other thought on this. Eby for one uses deeper frame rails for dump applications. The flats are more shallow. The reason I mention this is if you ever decide to make it dump, you may want to know this before you buy.

B&W

You might want to take a look at B&W's beds. They aren't aluminum and are pricey but they are very, very good flatbeds. We had them on two of our ranch trucks and I liked them alot. You can make them as basic or as fancy as you want. www.turnoverball.com/truckbeds
