My step dad has an 03' HO 48re auto, 4x4, SLT, with less than 10,000 miles, totally stock.

Over the last few weeks this has occurred 4-5 times, he will get in start the motor (everything sounds and feels fine), he will then put it in drive and the transmission won't engage and the RPM's will not go up if the accelerator is depressed. He has never had the problem in reverse, and it has never happened if he backs up first and then puts it in drive. If he shuts off the motor and restarts the motor he can drive just fine. The outdoor temps are in the 50's.

One more thing the Wait to start indicator, has always been a problem, it will not go out until after the engine has been started and then shut off. The dealer is still trying to figure this one out.

So far the dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem.

TIA

I have had a similar problem but later found it was driver error by checking what I was doing.

There have been a few times when I go from drive to reverse and it won't move??? at first I thought what the heck! next time it happened I looked down and saw that I had the selector between D and R rather than all the way in R.

There is definately a problem,The tps sometimes does not read. Go from park to drive quick and it should do it. If it does do it just put it in neutral for a sec and then back into gear and it should be fine after that.
