I have an '03 and the A/C has been freezing up and want to move the fin sensor. I cut a hole in the HVAC housing and can get my hand on the fin sensor but it won't just pull out. Is there a trick to it or do I have to get access the back of the evaporator? Also does anyone have the part number of the fin sensor.

Thank you in advance

It is most likely freezing up because it is low on charge. Temperature and pressure are relevant, in other words, as the system gets low on refrigerant the pressure drops, as the pressure drops, so does the temperature. When this happens it freezes condensate on the evaporator.

I would not try reinventing the "wheel", I would take it to a reputable shop and have the leak repaired, and recharged.

It not low on charge. in '03 Dodge put the fin sensor in the wrong location causing the A/C freezing up.

OK... . was not aware of that, never had the problem. Is there are TSB out on it?

The sensor, I believe is a thermalcouple, when it reaches a certain temp it operates a switch to cycle the compressor. Do you know where to reposition it? Or is it a faulty component and needs replaced?
