a/c blows cold but only on the driver side 2 vents pass vent appear to blow non cooled outside air (HOT)

i'm not firmiliar with the ducting so hopefully someone out there is

Recharging isn't the issue. However, this is a common problem but it requires removing the instrument panel. It's covered under warranty and the dealer fixed mine for me.

The "doors" break or stick for some reason. It's a $600 job at the dealership. My truck was slightly out of warranty, and even though there are no factory notices on it, there have been enough complaints that the factory rep agreed the problem was there when it was still in warranty. Cost me $100 to fix. Some do-it-yourselfers tore into the dash and fixed it themselves.

Not me. It would take me all day and then some, plus, somebody would have to fix whatever I messed up. There are lots of threads on this. It's a common problem.

In my 2003 sevice manual 24-3 under pressure diagnosis the first condition is constant compressor engagement and warm air from passenger vents. Causes listed only 1. Low refrigerant system charge. Correction 1. check for leaks evacuate and charge system. This is what I did rather than let a dealer take my dash apart and I have had no problems. If the A/C charge is not right then the doors will not work correctly. Some dealers will tell you this and some just want warranty work to do for nothing. The blend door falls off or sticks and that has nothing at all to do with vent control of any kind. When I talked to the dealer about what my manual said they tried to dig out of the hole I put them in. My manual is the same as the one they use so why didnt they look it up first before trying to take my dash apart. They said they did not read that in the manual before. What a bunch of B. S If you have your blend door fixed sure your A/C will work better after its done THEY HAVE TO RECHARGE THE SYSTEM AFTER THE REPAIR. . THE #1 RECOMENDED REPAIR FOR THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-laf

Well its TWO differant issues. There is a TSB on the hinges breaking on a mode door. When it breaks its not a differance in drivers or pass side ac temp. Its that it won't blow air out of vents at all etc. The door literaly breakes off at the hinges. The warm air pass side is a freon level issue. From reading the previous posts you kinda got the two issues combined.

Heh-heh. DPK, I thought the same thing Sking throught. That was BEFORE I search through threads available in the TDR. That's where I found out about the "other" problem I described. So, when I took the truck to MY dealer (who, as far as I can tell, DOESN'T take advantage of customers) they checked the charge first and it was fine. When I pointed out the problem as described IN THE TDR THREADS they said it would cost $600 to fix it and I'd have to get an O. K. from the factory for them to fix it since my truck was out of warranty.

I talked to the factory rep, pointed out what I'd read in the TDR, and he agreed the doors were probably broken while the truck was under warranty.

Service manuals are nice (I wish I had one) but the TDR is the first place I go to find out about problems before I ever knock on the dealer's door. With 20,000 owners out there, it isn't likely that whatever problem I am having will be unique to me. The TDR has been the best investment this truck owner has ever had.

If it is a single zone cooling system, it probably IS the issue.

Not only does the manual say that recharging is the solution, but I have first hand experience on this.

Mine was cold on the driver two vents and warm on the passenger side. Bought 2 pounds of refrigerant (cheap) and now it is cold on both sides.

The blend door (on a single zone) would cause the whole system to be warm.

My system on the low preasure side read correct (in spec) but after I raised it 10lbs (to between 35-40) it works perfect now.

I did see the other topic after starting this one

thank you for all the suggestions

i'll start by checking the charge possibly adding a little even if it appears ok then go from there

thanks again

There may be two differant issues but the post was for cold air passenger side warm air drivers side nothing else. . So I gave an answer for that question in my first reply. then someone said that was not the fix so I went into more detail. I did not answer what happens when you have warm air out of all vents. . If you have warm air out of all the vents then have your blend door fixed. . I to was told my blend door was broke and a door motor was bad. . Its funny how a little freon fixed every thing. What I'm trying to say is if you have cold air out of drivers vents and warm out the other charge your system. Here is something that most dont know. . When you have a low or high charge the A/C pressure transducer will drop voltage to the A/C system and that will cause door actuator motors not to work correctly. It will also cause cold air out of vents to change to hot air so it can protect the A/C system from damage.
