this afternoon my 03 died like you turned off the key..... turn on the ignition and the fuel gage and the voltmeter come up and stay for five seconds and then go to zero. It will not run the instrument cluster test... ..... throws a " AA" fault.

the engine will turn over but not fire. Any Ideas, other than have it towed in???

Thanks

Went out this morning and the crazy thing started right up... ... ... . Runs all the diagnostics... . no codes..... It's the wifes truck... ... she's spooked, but what can you do... ... ... Can't fix what ain't broke... ... I disconnected the battery grounds and will let it sit for a while, maybe it will reset or something. It'll probably bite her in the six again. #@$%!

Could it be that one of your batteries is bad?

It's an easy thing to check.

No real experience, just brainstorming.

thought I'd let everyone know, it was the lift pump, 53k... ..... covered under warranty... thanks for everyone's response. Maybe it will help someone else. .

How in the world does a LIFT PUMP make gauges read zero and won't even run a gauge test??? Lift pump might have been bad but I'd still be scared to drive it!

I have no idea DP, it doesn't really make any sense to me either, but they had it for over a week. . Gave them a fit for four days, it'd run and then wouldn't, and after they finally did the conversion on the lift pump they kept it and ran the heck out of it for three more days and it never failed again... They did say they cleaned all the contacts on the PCM AND ECM... but it failed again after that... ... I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and not getting too far from home. . It's been a week since I got it back and no problems... ...

Thanks

Ed
