I have an 03 2500 6 spd, that kind of pulsates when it idles, you can't see it on the tach but you can hear it, it does it when the cummins is cold and hot. Also when I've been running and come to a stop it will jump up to high idle for no reason. When it's cold right after I start driving it when I hit about 2300 RPM's it will jump like I gave it a lot of fuel and then back down. All seems wierd to me, but this is my first cummins and it might be normal, the truck has about 101,000 miles on it and tows like a beast. Any input would be great, thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

There was a reflash or two that corrected some of the strange things the computer does to our throttle response, have you got the latest S/W? If not then that would be a good place to start.

Mine has never acted exactly as you describe but the reflash helped with some other funny eng activety. Like the eng taking off for a second on its own (with no throttle input) and having a slight throttle flare when I lifted my foot off.

Any bombs? A couple of the boxes I had caused some different engine behavior, especially the Quadzilla. I had an erratic idle problem that ended up being the connections to the ECM. I try to never ever hit 2300 on a cold engine. When it is cold and I am just going easy there is a change in sound and rpm as it warms up.

I don't know why I said 2300 rpms I meant 1300, from about 1000 to 1300 it will jump like I gave it throttle, and haven't put any bombs on it yet, bought truck with about 90,000 miles on it and supposedly it has been stock it's whole life. I will definitely see about getting the computer checked out. thanks a lot for the input guys.
