Parked truck last night no problems. Drove today, and had a very noticeable vibration and howl on decellaration only. It almost feels like the rear tires are cupped and vibrating. Checked tires, everything looks perfect. There's no vibration or howl when accellerating. I only feel this in the seat, not in the steering wheel at all. Only problem with the truck since new. Currently have 43,000 on the clock. Can't believe this could have developed over-night, with no indication what-so-ever. Any ideas or similar problems??

Thanks in advance

I am currently dealing with a similar problem. I just bought an 03 DRW, drove it 975 miles back to Phoenix with no problems. On the evening of the following day I noticed a vibration and what I would call a shutter when decelerating either in gear or out with or without the brake. It was most noticable under 25mph. It became much worse with ever mile driven. Brought it to the dealer who stated it just needed the diff service done. Turns out I had a U joint going out and the gears were chewed up in the rear end. I swear it drove fine for nearly 1000 miles then poof! I am at 50k miles.

I've had that problem. A heavy low frequency vibration on deceleration between 25 and 10. It was a bad u-joint(needle bearing embedded in the cross). Replaced the joint and balanced the shaft. Been smooth ever since. :)

I had all my u-joints replaced @26k under warranty for the same problem. (Well, they replaced one, and then 2 weeks later the others went. )

Thanks for all the replies. Talked to Wayland Chrysler here in W-Michigan today (great guys to deal with, highly recommended). Calvin, the service rep, basically told me the same thing you guys are, and that it will be covered under the drivetrain warrenty. It's gonna cost me $100, but they're fixing my front timing cover oil leak also. The truck goes in this Tuesday. Hope that's all I need.

Thanks again

I have this vibration with similar characteristics, but feels the vibration on my steering wheel not on my seat. Feels like its coming from the front and only happening as you deacellrate. My local dealer's shop guys cant find any problems. But the vibration is still there.

Same thing here... after hours of searching I took it to the dealer for a diagnosis. They came back saying that the front 1/2 of my rear drive shaft is bent. Don't know being that I just got it home an hour ago, but will crawl under it tomarrow and double check the diagnosis and look at the u joints.
