I will say sorry to everyone in advance for bringing this subject up again. But after way too much time searching and reading I have to ask this one more time. I will try to keep this straight forward.

My 03 dually has 4:10's, I never load it up much any more but do pull a enclosed trailer every now and again. . As with many of us , most of my miles are put on unloaded or lightly loaded.

I will soon be in the market for new tires. I plan to level the front end and am willing to use up to 2" spacers between the rear duals. I know that the stock rim is a 6" and that creates a little bit of a issue with getting taller tires because taller means wider. .

I would like to get into a 34" tall tire but ???? So who can tell me what they know for fact is the tallest tire I can get on my truck. I read that people put 285,70,17's on stock rims with 1-1/2" rear spacers. But every one seems to say its the guy down the road or across town. I need to hear from that guy that this is indeed possible and that the tires can handle the squeeze on to the 6" rim.

Thank you in advance !

If you look at my 2003 dually truck in readers rigs I am running 22. 5 10 lug Alcoas with yokohama tires that are 37inches tall and I DO NOT HIT ANYWHERE and all I have is a 2" leveling kit in front.

I appreciate the feed back but I was looking to stay with the factory rims.

I should have mentioned this is a 4WD also-if that matters.

Staying with the factory rims should not make a differance since we are still talking about a dually which the rims offset is kinda special so even though I am running 22. 5s with tires measuring 37 inches in height it should still show that with your stock dually rims offset you should not have any problems with a tire in the 34 i nch range you said you would like, and my 03 is also a 4x4 so we are talking about the same truck

Thats intereseting, that tire has a section width of over 10. 5" (I think). I appreciate the feed back. Do you run these tires on your stock 6" rims ? if so do you notice any wear issues or weird handling problems ? Thanks again !

I just looked that up, it says that the rim width for that tire ( BFG says) should be 8. 5" ? with a section width of just under 12". So is that going to be pushing it a bit on the factory rims ?

M Morris I received your pm and wanted to reply here so maybe to help someone else out also. There are five of us that all have 03 to 05 3500 DRW 4x4's. We all help each other out playing with these toys. I run 265 70 17 Maxxis Buckshot Mudders on mine with no lift and no spacers. They have a 3000 lb rating at 65 psi. I have about 1/2" clearance between duals with 15,000 lbs on my GN trailer. The 03 dually has BFG AT 315 70 17 with 2" level kit up front and 2" spacers between duals. The clips that hold the simulators to the rims started breaking from the tire flex against the simulators. We put x4 aluminum dual wheels 6", oem spacing on the truck. These tires have seen almost 50,000 miles the last two years and still look good. The truck is mostly run solo but has pulled 15,000 with no problems. I know the tire companies state wider rims for these sizes of tires and I agree, just wish someone would make some. You can search the forum and find alot more people who are running wider tires on their duallies. Hope this helps.

I appreciate the feedback ! I seen a DRW with what looked to be 315's on it a few weeks back, he had no simulators on it, just painted the rims a gloss black. They looked o. k. but I wondered why he wouldnt put the simulators on if they were indeed stock rims- now I know why, he too may have had the clips breaking off. I may have to check into XXX coatings, I hear they spray chrome for about $25. 00 a rim and it holds up better then auto paint. We will soon see ( I hope ): my tires are pretty bad in the snow and we got plenty of snow here now.
