Need Help?????I have a 03. Hooked up my Boat trailer to the Black Female plug in the rear Bumper. I have Brake Lights, 4 way Flashers, and Signal lights, But NO tail Lights... . I was told that the Big Brass center PIN should be Grounded. . A ohm meter check says it's not ground. . Anyone know what's going on here??? Also what is the TORQUE for theNuts on the Factory Alumium Wheels on this truck???? Thanks for your help... ... Bill

The center prong is back up lights. There should be a wiring schematic on the face of the cap that goes over the hook up. It tells what each connector is. I believe ground is on the bottom left side. Also there is a power distrubution box under the hood that has fuses for all the trailer wiring. The trailer wiring fuses are seperate from the truck lights. So it is possible to blow one fuse and still have the other lights.

Mine has the diagram of the pins and where they should be attached on the cover, but just in case yours does not, the middle one is backup, bottom left is ground, upper right is positive, upper left is running lights, middle left is LH turn/stop, middle right is RH turn/stop.

I have had problems with these plugs on my 2001. 5 and the same thing on my 2003. I have three different trailers, each with their own plug. On several occasions when I plug it in, different lights radomly won't work. I finally figured out that sometimes when pushing the male plug in, one or more of the pins doesn't engage squarely in the female sockets and will push the pin back into the plug instead of into the prongs of the female socket. Sometimes it's one pin, sometimes two, sometimes none. So I always have to check my trailers after hooking to make sure all the lights work. If you know what pins are what, look into the end of the male plug and make sure one of those pins didn't get pushed back down into the plug and not making connection. If a pin does get shoved back in the plug, I tap the flat end of the plug on something firm, like the trailer frame and it will make the pin come back down into a position where it makes connection. I know this sounds like a jackleg operation, but that's what I do. Like I said, two different Dodges, three different trailers with individual plugs. I've had every one of them do it. I have tried spreading the prongs a little inside the female socket on the truck to reduce the resistance, but I never did any good trying that. May not be your problem, but it sounds similar to my experiences.

thanks for your input, but, that isn't my problem, I dont have the voltages at the plug in the bumper. i have the 4 way flasher , brake lights and signal lights but, No running lights. . Im looking at fuses and relays if i can find out what ones control these circuits. . TKS Doc

go in the power distribution box that I mentioned above. If you open the cover, it tells you which fuse goes to it's circuit.

yes , i found the trouble, Fuse 33 in the fuse box under the hood was blown. . It was a 20amp Fuse... Thanks to all that helped me get this thing back together,, By the way did any of you with 03's have a Fuse Puller come with your truck. I see aplace in the Fuse Box for one, but none in Mine..... 15, 000 Miles on this truck Now... ... Doc
