Alright, so now it's not starting. Over the last few weeks my truck has developed a long crank problem, but only on the first start of the day when it's cool outside. After that, it's fine. Today, no start at all! I crank and crank but it won't even sputter. It started hard on the original lift pump and did'nt improve after installing a GFS-392. I have 20-21 psi. at the CP3 so the fuel is obviously getting there. I've noticed a fairly low rail pressure at idle lately (3-4k psi. ) if that matters. Previously, when it did start hard, it would run fine. But now, nothing. Please help!

I see you have done the fca mod, could it be stuck?

See if it will start with the electrical connection to the fca unplugged, if it does start it will rattle like a 12 valve, so I wouldn't drive it that way.

It sure sounds like no fuel.

Also, check all of your injector harness connections, I had a long crank problem after installing my TST. Re-made all my connections and it seemed to cure it.

Hope you get it figured out, probably a member with more smarts than me will speak up with other suggestions. Jess

I forgot to mention, I've already tried unplugging the FCA. No luck. I've also unhooked the R/P guage wiring harness and plugged the factory wiring back in, again nothing. Fresh fuel filter, fuel pressure limit valve checks out okay. I'm about out of ideas.

Check all fuses?

Spray some starting fluid on a clean rag, and wrap it around your air filter, just to see if you can get it to fire. If it fires, you will know something is preventing fuel flow.

Warning! Be sure to disable intake manifold heaters if you are going to use starting fluid! If you don't, you may have more serious problems.

Sounds like you may have a bad injector or two, mine did the same thing this summer. Tried adding inline fuel pump (already had in tank pump upgrade) and no change. Ended up needing 2 injectors, now starts like it should.

Good luck, Kevin

Good call on the injectors. I took the truck in this week and they found and replaced some bad connector tubes. Did the return flow test again and found two bad injectors, three almost out of spec. and one that is good. So it is looking like I will be replaceing my injectors in the near future. Tech says the con. tubes are one time use. Anybody reuse them? I,m hopeing to just get my stockers repaired rather than replace them. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, RJ.

I reused my connector tubes just make sure the end that connects to the injector is not burred run your finger nail over the end if you feel a ridge go over it with some fine grain emery cloth and a lot of brake cleaner to clean it. formula one can replace the tips and repair them for a lot cheaper than oem stuff.
