03 Dodge 5. 9DsL. 6spd 81,568 S/N 56996894 Have a intermittent hard start/no start issue. All fuel flow tests show good. All leak checks show good. Performed all basic filters ect. Checked overhead and injector o-rings and seals. Good power to all sensors and clips. Ohm readings on injectors all . 6. TSB 14-003-05 anyone have this info. Will it help me? Compression?

Warm or cold?? I have had the same problem (long crank). It seems to come and go, although I have not had an issue in over 3 mounths  There is another thred about long cranking, do a search it might help you answer some questions.

When it is cold after night or even 2-3 hrs. It will not start at all unless you help it, (Plug in) Once warm its not too bad but, still not right. Used to start within 5-6 sec. now warm around 15-20 sec.

Of course I just left work and the truck had the long crank. I have no idea why it does this, I might not have let the lift pump long enough. When I get into the truck I put the key in first and then do everything else, adjust myself, seat belt... Although I had to wait for WTS light to go out so it should have been long enough.

Maybe it knows I was on the TDR talking about it and now it is going to do it for the heck of it

On the 2nd Gen ISB's you have to bump the key (in the start position) to make the lift pump run for any significant amount of time.

Excuse my ignorance if this isn't the case on the 3rd Gen trucks...

Matt

My 05' started taking longer and longer to start so I took it in. They replaced three injectors at 13,000 miles. When I took mine in there was a 03' that had just had three injectors installed to. Our trucks were cranking 15 to 20 seconds before starting. Even when truck was running you could turn it off and it would have a long crank.

It could be that your OEM batteries are wearing out. I've heard they only last about 3 years. The CCA starts to not be what it used to be so the grid heater isn't getting as hot as it once did.

Mine used to always crank and start but some times lately (when it cold) I have to hold the starter for a couple revolutions. Time to get some 900 CCA Optima Red tops.

My lift pump just went out today at 2am after 800 miles of driving @ 68 and 1850 rpms... . I was making a trip up to Washington and the truck just died without warning... not even a engine light before hand so maybe my screwy starting issues the last couple of months was due to a failing lift pump... ?

Hopefully the dealership here in Burley, Idaho will have the new 05 lift pump in stock...
