03 HO bombs

I've been lurking for a while now and haven't noticed very many 03 HO nv5600 trucks with performance upgrades. Am I just not being very perceptive?



I am slowly working on performance mods for my truck and would like to hear from folks who have the same rig. I understand the basics, ie air/exhaust first, then fuel, more air, timing, more fuel, more air... .



I occasionally tow 8K lbs. Otherwise, daily driver, work truck.



I've been bitten by the bug but can only go one step at a time.



Any feedback will be appreciated.

The clutch is noisy at idle, I would get the new DD clutch from Southbend. It performs flawlessly, even backing while loaded.



The straight pipe is also noisy. I did notice a slight decrease in egt's and am currently looking for a muffle that I like the sound of. The straight pipe was a cheap solution to reduce egt's.

I would say to start with the fuel system and then the clutch. Add a tst w/pressure, a turbo(or2:-laf ) and a smarty. after that exaust and extras.

This is the order of my bombs;

1) intake and exhaust mods
2) diff cover and fastcoolers
3) volumizer (for sale if you want it)
4) smarty
5) tst w/pressure
6) clutch
7) suspension

Turbo is next.

My '03 HO runs very nicely. I have towed 16,000 lbs with this setup.

Check my sig. More mods than I want. Next mod will be a FL-70, if I can ever get any kind of money out of this anchor.

Check my sig, with the exception of the FE that was recently replaced by a "hybrid" FE /OFE type of combo. Usually drive and tow with the TST on 3x2, which should be about 485/950 at the wheels, made 551/1008 on 6x6 not reaching full boost and EGT's of only 1250!

I am becoming happier with mine every day. I dont know what kind of power you are looking for. But you can make good honest numbers out of a 03!:-laf
