Who cares whether he is B. S. ing or not! The point of this thread is to help other members with their problem. Save the gossip for the Saturday tea ladies. I have the knock. I think it might be coming from somewhere other than the engine. When I am idling and turn my wheel to the left, the knock is more pronounced. I also have something making a metal squeak noise on "washboard" roads. The noise seems to be coming from the front end.

Hello! TDR members, another new member just arrived. I have been viewing this website for months and can say it is great, lot's of good information. I'm glad I joined. Ok has any one heard of a problem with the 03 SO/250hp having a knock in the engine. I have a friend/co-worker that has a 03 DRW 4X4/SO250hp/auto that was purchased 12/02. Around 10,000 miles detected a knock in the engine. He took it to our local Dodge dealership and they ended up keeping it for three +weeks and never did find out what was causing the problem. Even had the Cummins rep drop by and had him scratching his head. The dealership did two complete tare downs only to find out when they put it back together it still had the knock. Ended up my friend got a new engine out of the deal. The dealership told him that this was the second one they had heard about, the other was some where at a dealership in Colorado.

Tony T welcome to the TDR. You will find this is a great place for CTD information.

Prairie Dog, I wish it was that simple. It is usually from 10mph to 20mph. The strange thing is that when it is raining; the noise seems to go away. Whatever it is; the water seems to be lubricating it. Somehow I feel like it maybe tied into the knocking feeling I am getting in the steering wheel and accelerator.

An '03 with less then 100 miles started knocking last week. The dealer diagnoisis was a defective #5 injector. The dealer kept his truck for three days without receiving a new injector, they robbed one from a new truck on the lot and problem is fixed. FYIW, Larry
