Hey help!

went to install my cover today and was matching it up to the old one before I took it off. the old one has 14 bolts the mag-hytec 12. leaves the top and bottom open. any problem???

No problem. I think the paper work that comes with it says to top off the 2 unused bolt holes with silicone. I got 2 set screws with the same thread pitch and loctited them in about 1/8" deep and topped them off. Haven't had a leak yet.

Let the silicone cure hard before you install the new cover.

You should not have to put anything in the holes that are not used if you have the newer Mag for the Dodge that has the O-ring that goes on the outside of the unused bolt holes. Not sure of the PN but they make two different ones, one for GM one for Dodge, make sure you have the right one for the Dodge.

Thanks for the feedback, i am going outside to check it out now. This is the first time Ive used the service after bieing a member for three years, man its great. :)

Since I plan to remove the cover very seldom, I clean the surfaces with lacquer thinner and apply a smear of RTV on the cover. This avoids leaks but drives Mag Hytec crazy because they go to such lengths to do the o-ring for sealing.

Part number

The newer one for the Dodge American Axles is AA 14-11. 5a ... . The last letter apparently being the rerouted o-ring. I put mine on last week and there was no need for RTV. It used 12 bolts and washers and snugs up nicely with no leaks.

There are a couple pix in my readers rigs section showing the o-ring on the newer model, with a redline where the older version apparently went, and necessitated using the RTV

I had an old style GM cover left from my Dmax that fit on my Dodge except for the o-ring difference. Dodge uses the same AAM as GM's HD except they have a slightly different housing to accomidate their different antispin diff.

I had to make an adjustment to the o-ring to get it to go around the housing so it wouldn't leak. Works great!

?? holes ??

You don't have a signature showing what your truck is, but if you have the 11. 5" rear, and a Mag-Hytec with 10 holes, I suspect you might want to call them and confirm you have the right one. Mine has 12, and is shown in my reader's rig section. Model # AA 14-11. 5a ... . 10 holes just doesn't sound right. .

Yep, I think its the wrong one. I'll give mag-hytec a call in the morning. Buyer beware with that ebay. The ad said dyna 80 that fits all 3500's. I hate it when this kind of thing happens.

Mag-Hytec buyers beware

The Dyna 80 fits 2500's 94-02 with manual transmission and 3500's 94-02.

Mag-Hytec's website is a bit mis-leading when they say it will fit ALL 3500's

They have not updtaed their information and if you rely on their website to order you might find yourself in a jam.
