03 needs U-Joints

Since it seems the OEM shaft (52853073AC) is NLA, are there any aftermarket vendors I can look at? Or would a local shop be my best bet?

Mine has the damper at the front of the shaft. I don't see that they offer that style. OEM p/n is 52853073AC.

If I want to keep t truck I'd choose an aluminum driveshaft without that damper, that's just unnecessary weight. Ram get away from it to.

What's the purpose of the damper, is it required, and is it worth the $170 premium?

I think they thought it helps against NVH, but later on didn't needed it anymore.

It seems that AAM had some problems building proper driveshafts in their early days. I've seen shafts with so many counterweight welded on they looked horrible from factory.

Common sense tells me that if something has multiple applications then mark it as such....., but I'll stay in my lane. I don't know near enough about automatics since I avoided them like the plague and my manual is in a shop.
