meaning of numbers on supply tubes?

It wears the shift forks on the loaded side(side pressure applied by shift lever having weight on it). It will eventually cause the stick to jump out of gear as the fork will no longer push the sliding clutch into the gear far enough.



Thx. My mechanic friend also explained to me that it wear the the small "lines" off the sides of the synchros causing a grind when engaging the next gear.

He said he's seen lots of this on dump trucks that spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic in town.

Not sure what size trucks your mechanic is talking of, but large Class 8 trucks do not in general have any syncros in manual Fuller/RoadRanger trannies(except air operated in backsection). I believe Volvo's own man does have syncro's... ..... but I have been out transmission business for about 15 years.
