Okay, just started the truck to go to lunch, pulled onto the road and the truck was running real rough and surges real bad. with any pedal, blueish smoke can be seen, and make an almost metal to metal type of sound.

My initial thought was the turbo as the noise appears to come from under the truck in the exhaust area. What do I need to do first to diagnose? When I get home I'll pull the air inlet to check the turbo for free spool. I can't figure why it would just go bad after it was parked

Checking the turbo is a good idea, based on a few recent posts you might also pull your TST off and see what happens.

Got the truck to the house. The throttle was sticking on the way home. It would get to about 1500rpms and stay there even with my foot off the pedal. I am going to pull my TST, and EZ, and see what I find. I was reading some posts on the #6 piston, I wouldn't think that would happen on start up after only 100yards of driving. Any other ideas keep them coming.

If you're hearing metal-to-metal in the turbocharger area and the RPMs won't drop, please be extremely careful. You may have lunched the turbo bearings - this can produce a compressor impeller rub (the metal-to-metal sound) and pump lube oil past the turbo seals into the intake (causing the 1500 RPM "hangup"). If you get enough oil into the intake and on into the engine, you can experience a runaway - the engine is being fueled by the lube oil, and there's no way short of shutting off the air (blocking the air intake system) to kill it.

I am going to take the truck in right now. I think that the turbo oil may be a safe bet, as I am getting a blueish smoke as well. I will be very careful on the way. Let you know when I know.

Are you sure about being careful... a tow bill may be safe insurance. I never could understand the being careful or limp it in thing.

The truck is at the dealer now. I don't understand, everything looks normal on the gauges except the truck runs rough. I'll let everyone know what I find.

Truck is an SO. I hope it is the turbo, I would hate to be FORCED to install twins. :D

My only error codes are P0647 and P0606

I should hopefully hear the verdict this afternoon, so I'll post when I know.

Just got an update today. I lost the #4 cylinder. I don't know if it is a burnt piston or what but It is supposedly going to need a new shortblock and possibly some headwork. I don't know if I should let the dealership do the work or send it elsewhere. Anyone with any ideas please fire away, cuz I'm scrambling for ideas :( :(
