I have been thinking of getting a 03 for the last month now. I know what I want (2500 Quad cab 4x4 6sp ho in Patriot Blue) but I have a few questions:

I have 285x75xr16's (Wild Country TXR's) on my 97 ram. Apparently they will not fit on the new rams. What are my options for 17" rims?? Does anyone make a 285x75r17? If so will it fit on the stock rims(width?) If not what other options are there? Other size wheels with better tire selection?

Can you get cab lights on a 2500? Or is it only with the 3500? I would choose a 3500 SRW if that is the only way to get them (a must have)

Are there any power boxes out yet? What are my options?

Anyone know what I need to do to get the best deal at the dealer? I don’t mind people making tons of money... ... just not out of my wallet.

Thanks for the help.

The wheel and tire selection is a little still a little skinny. BF Goodrich has a 315/70R17 and shortly will have a 285/70R17. They have a few mudders also that fit. Goodyear has a mudder, 305/70 if memory serves? The stock wheel is a 8" so if someone comes out with a 285/75R17 that would fit. Saw a picture of one with 18" wheels and street tires that looked nice though its not my thing. You can get the lights as an option with the 2500, they are standard on the 3500. Power boxes are due out shortly from several venders. Go to Kelly Blue Book, www.kbb.com and you can see what the invoice price is for the truck and all the options. You can get the truck for invoice or very close (100 or 2 over) now, pay any more and you paid too much.

I just went to the Kelly blue book site and punched up my truck.

I paid retail:--)

I thought I did good knocking off almost 5000 off the window sticker but I guess not.

But I still love my truck.

Sorry to hear that 4xquadrod. 98% of us have been smoked by a dealer, the other 2 percent are composed of liars and dealers. Dont let it ruin your new truck experiance. Now you know what to do next time.

Thanks guys!

This is going to be awesome..... Bank approved me for much more than I need and looks like I might have my 97 sold. However I need a little help with that blue book thing. It has so many double options im not sure what to pick. Here is a link of what I want. Help if you can.

BHaner,

My parents just purchased the truck below in my signature for $100 below invoice from Jim Hall at Bossier Country Dodge in Texas - 1-800-Bossier. We live in Colorado and they drop shipped the truck to nearest dealership at no cost. The dealer they drop shipped the truck to charged Bossier Country $375 to PDI the truck, but my parents were not charged for that cost:). The deal was done completely over the phone and all my parents had to do was sign the papers and take delivery of the truck. So if you have any questions feel free to contact me and if you decide to call Jim tell him Joe Silva sent you and make sure you tell him your a TDR member because they like to deal with us because we know what we want and make it real easy for them to do their job. :D

Dealer

Local dealer quoted me at $350 over invoice for some undercoating and wax that they have put on every truck. Dont know what that is all about. The total without tax came out to $33,780... sounds a little high.

They still try to pull the old undercoating scam? I thought Seinfeld de-bunked this one. . . :D

Dont for any reason pay for undercoating and wax or any other such thing. Thats one of the oldest scams in the book. Call up Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg ID. They are the highest volume Dodge truck dealer in the country and they will sell it to you at invoice, no hard sell, no bs period. They had the truck I was looking for in the color I wanted with all the options I wanted and none that I didnt want sitting on the lot. Went for a spin filled out the paperwork in under an hour then hopped in and drove off with a full tank of gas I didnt have to ask for. There is a fairly good chance they have what you want also since they had 1600 on the lot when I got mine and many were trucks. You can do it all over the phone. I have no affliliation whatsoever with them but would highly reccomend them to anyone in the northwest.

CDL?

The sales person told me that if i had a CDL that i could be in bussiness link and get $300 off the price... and then some special treatment after the purchace. Anyone else hear of this? I figured the undercoating and wax was a joke... but they insisted that they do it to every vehicle. I am a little worried about doing a deal over the phone or out of state. How does the sales tax and lic. work? I would enjoy driving my truck back from Idaho over the pass. :D

Just waiting on my buddy to buy my 97... anyone want a cool jeep? Jeep

They will charge the WA sales tax for you based on your locale. You get an ID temp and pay for your license fee when your plates come in. Mine was just under a hundred to license, its a little less for a 2500. The buisness discount is available at any Dodge dealer so no worries there. The undercoating scam works like this, they have a kid making 8 bucks an hour spray the coating that costs very little and charge you 350 for it. Its just a scam to take your money. Dont pay it regardless of where you get your truck. Dave Smith has been in buisness many years and are quite reputable. I also had reservations about doing an out of state deal over the phone but I had never heard anything but good things about buying over there and thought I would give it a try. Those guys base their buisness on volume and do the large majority of buisness from out of town/state buyers. They have it down to a science. The way it worked for me was a called up to see if they had the truck I wanted. They did. I agreed to buy for invoice. I flew to spokane and they had a car pick me up and take me to the dealership. Its about an hour drive from spokane. Took about an hour to fill out the paperwork and test drive the truck and I was outta there. I have bought my last several cars at invoice from some of the local dealers but had to play the car buying game to do it. I would much rather do the no muss no fuss method and I am kicking myself for not buying from them sooner.

HI Does Dave Smith Motors have a web site I can go to???

If not then a phone number??

Thanx Yellow Jacket

Guys & Gals When I bought the 99 the dealer told me that the 7/70,000 body warranty would be voided if undercoated. I guess the 03s are different

CDL?

Any truth to the statement about CDL holders being in BusinessLink? What are the other perks of BusinessLink??

Maybe it's a good thing I kept my CDL...
