Thanks,

My 03 needs it too (transmission line) question... my wife and i are going for a trip down south to Florida with our new truck camper, I don't have time to bring the truck in for this recall. Is it safe to drive ??? Does the line blow or does it start with a slow leak?

We leave in a few days... . just curious.

mine needs the transmission line only ... why do some have the control module and others not ... mine was born 12/02 ... when one of you has the module done please post where the bad connectors are so i can check mine and smother 'em in dielectric grease

Sorry I was the bearer of bad news guys!:{ Just hope noone had a problem up to this point with the mentioned recall.

Flimmy: is yours part of the recall also?

I need BOTH!!1

Can any one tell me all the parts that need to be changed on these recalls. I know about the O'rings on the PCM. But what lines, fittings etc. on the transmission. My 5 star really sucks and i don't want a 5 FINGER PROSTATE EXAM. If you know what i mean.

TIA:mad:

They know about it before it is released on the website. What pisses me off is that they took $70. 00 from me last week for the check gauges TSB and they knew about this recall. OK enough whining. The dealer has to give DC an estimate on how many they will do and order parts. My dealer has personally called " Preferred Customers" and are out of the parts for now. B/C they fixed the " Preferred Customers" first. That is how i was told it worked by my salesman. If you know your truck is recalled ( you can check on www.dodge.com all you need is VIN #) call your dealer and see if he has the parts and make an appt.

OK, here's the straight skinny on the recalls.

One is for the possibility of corroded PCM connectors. It involves inspecting the three connectors to the PCM on the right side of the firewall. If corrosion is present, the dealer is to replace both the PCM and the wiring harness. If no corrosion is present, they are to install "o" rings on each PCM connector. The recall indicates that D/C expects very few trucks to require the PCM/wiring harness replacement. The corrosion can cause the cruise control and overdrive (on auto transmission's) to be inoperative.

The other recall is for replacement of the trans cooler line and possibly the trans cooler and here's where it get's interesting. D/C has found that when towing heavy loads, the trans cooler line can vibrate causing the trans cooler to crack. All trucks are to have the trans cooler line replaced. The dealer is then to determine the "duty cycle" of the truck and replace the trans cooler if necessary. The duty cyle is determined by analysis by the DRB III as to the history of use while heavily laden. If the duty cycle exceeds a certain percentage, the trans cooler is automatically replace otherwise it is only replaced if found cracked or leaking. D/C also notes that they expect very few vehicles to require the cooler replacement.

Note that D/C will initially only ship parts to the dealer for about 25 percent of the vehicles sold by them so the required parts may be a bit scarce at first. D/C will begin notifying truck owner's next week.

The two recalls are C40 and C42. Your dealer can check your VIN to see if your truck is affected, or if you have trouible getting this info you can PM me and I will check for you.

Hope this helps!

Just check , yep.

You know I won't be taking it to Eastgate Dodge. If they can't do an oil change in less than 1 hr 40 min. this would take them a week.

I'll call Graft tomorrow and see when they can do it.

Here's what I need.

RankRam , has your EZ box set any codes ? I am looking at getting one but was going to wait and see if anyone comes out with one that won't set any codes. You have the same yr and DT as I do.

Inoperative O/D

I drove my truck Friday and couldn't get it to shift into overdrive. Called the dealer where I get my truck "TSB'd" and he never mentioned the recall during our conversation. Thank God, for TDR and the subscribers who can keep DC straight.
