I am wondering if I should start over and get the recall-------I saw on a different site someone had the recall done and the new line has a rubber hose in the middle so it can flex. Maybe put the sending unit in one of the transmission ports?
My old 01 had the transmission line crack at one of the sharp bends when I was out of town working. So I went to Lowes , got some rubber hose and made a temp fix. Well the temp fix lasted a few mo. 's until I had a different problem with the transmission. They guy doing the work saw the temp fix and asked if I wanted the line replaced while he was working on it. So I said ok replace it. Less than a mo. later the line cracked right were it comes out of the transmission. Now theres good news and bad news. First the bad, I was in NC when it cracked and started to leak. I used 3 gallons of transmission fluid on my way home. I would stop every so often and fill it up. The good news is thet transmission was fine and DC replaced the line free because it was less then 90 days old. I bet the underside of that truck never rusts . From hearing that they put a sec. of rubber in the line I bet they were having the same problem that caused the crack in the line on my old 01. I guess my temp fix was one step ahead of DC They guy that worked on the transmission said it cracked because of all the vibration the CTD has.
I had a leak on the upper line and it was replaced about a month or so ago. It was were a connection was in the area under the battery tray and power dist. panel are. Are we saying the new line has a rubber section ??? I'll go check if someone can confirm this.
Bringing my truck in the morning for both recalls. Now my dealer says that if there is no corrosion they will NOT put O'rings. WTF!
Anyone have any documentation from Chrysler on exactly what is supposed to happen. Any one have any pictures of what I am s'posed to look for after they service the truck and where!
Looks like my 5 STAR is 5 DUMB.
PS If any dealer has something they can fax let me know. I would greatly appeciate it. 337 837 4793
For those who have had it done, how long are they keeping your truck. I know how long they are saying it takes , but how long do they actually keep it for.
JARichard,If you pull off the pcm connector you will see the orings They wrap around the od of the portion of the connector that plugs into the pcm. Hope that makes it easier to picture.
can someone tell me what line they are replacing? is it the line from trans. to heat exchanger? or exchanger to cooler? or return line from cooler to trans? I just hate taking my truck to the dealer. They want it all day for a five minute repair and I have to explain how to do it.
I have done them as "waiters" but I happen to like diesels and even some who drive them The biggest problem now is keeping them in stock. Remember be nice to your Techs... it makes a big differance. Ask any of my customers. In many cases your customers and mine are the same people.
We dont even get to see a tech at my dealer. Just the service writers. They tend to be KNOW-IT ALLS. like I stated previously they told me no O'rings are added to the PCM if it does not have corrosion.
Since it looked like no one answer how long... they told me 1 1/2 hours( o-rings & transmission line). I dropped it off at 8:00 AM and they called me and told me it was ready at 2:00 PM. Must have been the tire rotation I asked them to do while it was in there. Now had I been in the waiting room it may have been done quicker and they did do the check guages TSB since this was my second time complaining about it.
Thanks to whoever faxed me all the information. My dealer stated yesterday that they had all parts in to do the PCM. Get there this morning and they stated that they had no O'rings. So much for planning.
The PCM recall on the 03 auto trans says to disconnect the harness and inspect for corrosion. If found replace the harness. If not put in a new seal. There is also a recall on the trans cooler line. Something about inspecting for cracks and replacing the line. Took my 03 in today.
Went over to the dodge dealer this saturday to try and buy the line. They said no can do. They are for the recalls at the moment and they didnt have a price yet. Went home took off my box and intake and will take it in this wednesday. They did give me the part number though. CBLAC 441. Hope they dont ask about my exhaust!!
Took my 03 in for both recalls, service explained in detail what they would do. Took it in at 8:00 am and it was done by 1:00. No big deal, line was replaced and o rings added .
