'03 rear U-joint bad, 50,000mi.?

I am looking for a part number on an american made U-joint for the rear drive shaft at the differential. I just bought one at my local parts store and they did not have an available P/N and told me to try it and call them if it was good. The caps and length "look" good when I hold them to the yolk, but I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem?

Spicer also makes one, but I don't know the #. Don't know if they're american made or not, but if "american made" is what AAM's are, that' not necessarily a good thing.

Yes, the 351 says "Made in USA". Nice big joint!

Thanks for the info. The #351 is what I bought. A friend told me that Spicer makes the best, but this precision is twice as stout as the AAM. I stuck it in the freezer for an hour then tapped it in gradaully with a brass hammer and it turned out to be the easiest one i've ever done. Any ideas on where I can get non-dealer ball joints cheap (NAPA says they have them for $430. 00!!!)?

When I put the 351 in mine, it went IN with no problem. The AAM joint (2nd one dealer replaced) was in so tight I had to cut the joint in half with a torch and tap the caps to the inside.



I hope someone comes up with a replacement front axle joint too, so we don't have to pay big bucks for the puny non-greasable dealer joint.
